Do you remember Project Epsilon? It’s basically the GTA series’ parody of Scientology and other religions whose beliefs are quite outrageous and, at least to cynical people like you and me, often sound a bit like cults or pyramid schemes. Well, during the development of GTA 5, former Rockstar developer and everyone’s favorite in-game radio host Lazlow Jones thought he was approached by some real-life people who actually believed A call from someone of the Kifflom Way.

Here’s an interview from IGN, in which Jones mostly discusses what he’s currently doing with Absurd Ventures, the studio he co-founded with Dan Houser after leaving the studio and now on the road to bringing us GTA 6 It’s almost over.

Jones said that while he was still working on Grand Theft Auto 5 at Rockstar, he received a call from a woman who claimed to represent a group of real-life Project Epsilon followers who told him they “really wanted to know more.” Much” about this clear message. Not Real Religion was originally developed for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

“She was essentially saying that they were worshipers of this fake religion that we had come up with,” recalled the developer, who immediately went to tell his colleague Dan Houser about the voicemail message left by the group. Just like you would do. “

“She definitely sounds like an Epsilon follower,” Jones continued. “When you satirize something, it’s crazy… because we were very vocal about it. Back in 2004, we were working on Epsilon Having created a website, and all that goes with it, is, in my opinion, a money-grabbing, modern fictional religion, but they sound like the right followers of it. It both excites me and scares me.

Jones knows that real-life people might follow the teachings of the light-blue-clad brother-sister gang, who greet each other with “Kifflom,” and How does it make Jones feel that Michael De Santa can be friends with them? Commit more robberies and hit-and-run homicides every day than the average Range Rover driver? “It excites me so much and scares me to death at the same time,” he told IGN.

To be fair, given how weird the world is in 2024, is it really that weird to imagine people united by believing in the rhetoric of a video game cult? There’s a birthmark that could mean you’re a descendant of the famous Fourth Paradigm Emperor Kraf?

Do you believe you could be the spermless descendant of an alien emperor? Let us know below! Or, on second thought, maybe you can keep this to yourself.
