Far Cry: Escape from Rook Islands – Strategy Board Game
The most recent, Far Cry 6, was released in 2021, so fans had to replay the series while waiting for Far Cry 7. One is from the video game Far Cry 3’s Rook Islands. Far Cry 3 is at the top of our series rankings, so it’s cool that Funforge is teaming up with Ubisoft to transform the iconic open-world FPS into a tabletop strategy game.
Far Cry: Escape from the Rook Islands is a reinterpretation of Far Cry 3, so it has the same premise: you and up to three friends are trapped in a beautiful but dangerous island controlled by fan-favorite villain Vaas Monetenegro. On a tropical island.
The board game features eight story-driven missions. The combat system is card-based and has a tactical bent, requiring you to carefully consider every move as you fight against Vashna followers and other threats. As you can see in the picture above, the game comes with many different components. It has numerous overall systems, including upgrading experience points, upgrading weapons, making potions, and equipment management. Each playable character has their own unique feats to promote teamwork. Friendly fire mode is available to make missions more challenging.
Far Cry: Escape from Rook Islands is also completely playable solo.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice – Strategy Board Game
If you’re upset that Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has been delayed to February 14th, you can pass the time by getting together with some friends and playing the official tabletop game. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice The discount is 50%, bringing the price down from $80 to $40. This is an even better deal considering the game was still on sale for its original price of $140 back in July of this year.
Brotherhood of Venice tells an original story set in the Assassin’s Creed universe during the Italian Renaissance. It features beloved characters from video games as well as new characters created by Synapses Games, the publisher who partnered with Ubisoft to create an authentic Assassin’s Creed experience. If you like tabletop strategy games and Assassin’s Creed, Brotherhood of Venice is a great deal at this price.
The replayable campaign is divided into 26 quick chapters, each lasting an average of 30-90 minutes. You and up to three friends are tasked with investigating and assassinating enemies of the Brotherhood.
Brotherhood of Venice is designed as a cooperative experience, but the ability to play solo by controlling two Assassins is built into the game. The five playable assassins are custom-made miniatures. As shown above, the miniatures are unpainted, but you can paint them with the help of an acrylic paint set, like this affordable starter kit from Amazon.
In addition to the miniatures, the box also contains a game board, cardboard character stand, dice, cards, and instructions.
