A mixed bag for Stranger Things fans
First up, we have big news for fans of Netflix’s biggest original series.
Yesterday, the creators of Stranger Things released a behind-the-scenes clip that gives us our first official look at season five.
Sadly, it also revealed that production is only “roughly halfway done,” so we’ll have to wait a while to see new episodes.

Thankfully, fans can take some solace in the fact that ST producers the Duffer brothers are developing a new horror series called Something Very Bad Is About to Happen from screenwriter Haley Z. Boston.
Netflix’s press release describes the series as “a wedding-set horror series that follows a bride and groom in the week leading up to their ill-fated wedding. This is not a spoiler—just read the title…”
We like a title that lets us know what’s coming, and the Duffers have a track record of doing that, you know?

Trump’s running mate brings Netflix to hillbilly heaven
As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Donald Trump has announced JD Vance as his running mate in the 2024 presidential election.
Vance is the junior senator from Ohio, but before he wins the seat in 2022, many will know his name thanks to his best-selling 2016 memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy.”
The book was adapted into a 2020 Netflix film directed by Ron Howard and starring Glenn Close.
Not surprisingly, that number jumped significantly this week with news that Vance is the frontrunner to be our country’s next vice president.
In fact, Variety reported today that some 163,836 households watched 19.2 million minutes following Trump’s announcement.

Finally, in Netflix news, there are two pieces of information that are sure to make subscribers feel like they’re getting their money’s worth:

CBS’ hit series Fire Nation will premiere on Netflix on August 1, the streamer revealed today.
As if the original wasn’t confusing enough!
In addition to today’s TV news, the beloved Peacock series Poker Face is expanding its cast for season 2, adding Katie Holmes, Giancarlo Esposito and Gabby Ho Fuman and other top actors.
ID Discovery continues its partnership with Octavia Spencer, renewing true crime shows Lost Women and Feds, both produced by her company Orit Entertainment.
