To commemorate LEGO’s new Technic McLaren P1 set, Formula 1 driver Lando Norris drove a life-size model of the McLaren P1 at the iconic British circuit, Silverstone.

As far as specs go, LEGO and McLaren Automobiles have racked up some truly impressive numbers. The 1:1 LEGO Technic replica of the McLaren P1 weighs nearly 2,700 pounds and was built by 23 design, engineering and construction experts from LEGO and McLaren. The building took a total of 8,344 hours to develop and build and contains 393 different types of LEGO Technic elements, totaling 342,817 individual parts.

The latest large LEGO brick is the first of its kind with fully functional steering, able to turn and navigate corners and complete a lap around the track. The McLaren P1 replica can travel further than any other LEGO model to date, powered by an electric motor composed of LEGO Technic functional batteries and electric vehicle batteries. That’s eight motor packs, each containing 96 LEGO Power motors, meaning the car has a total of 768 LEGO motors, plus eight motor packs that mimic the V8 engine in the original McLaren P1.
