For the past two years, Amazon has held another massive two-day sale for Prime members in October in preparation for Black Friday festivities. (The 2022 version is called the “Prime Early Access Sale,” and will be renamed “Prime Big Deal Days” in 2023.) Prime Day in the summer, however, remains Amazon’s flagship sale.

    When is Prime Day 2024?

Prime Day starts now Tuesday, July 16 through Wednesday, July 17 2024. (FYI, Prime Day 2022 will be from Tuesday, July 12 to Wednesday, July 13, and Prime Day 2023 will be from Tuesday, June 11 to Wednesday, July 12.)

Amazon is keeping things in the home with many of its biggest price cuts ahead of Prime Day. Can I shop on Prime Day without being a Prime member?

You must be a Prime member to purchase Amazon Prime Day deals. But if you don’t want to commit to a monthly or annual paid subscription, you can still participate by scheduling a 30-day free trial of Prime during the promotion period. Remember to cancel immediately after your Prime Day is over to avoid being charged.

Who is competing with Prime Day?

Other retailers traditionally compete with sales during Prime Day, but this year, only Best Buy is going head-to-head with Amazon.

The e-store’s July Black Friday sale runs from Monday, July 15, to Wednesday, July 17 (or a full 24 hours longer than Prime Day). This is not a subscriber-only event, but paid (Plus and Total) members of the My Best Buy program get exclusive access to certain offers and an additional $50 bonus when you spend $500 or more during the event.

Target and Walmart both launched (unofficial) Prime Day counter-programs last week. However, it’s still worth cross-checking Amazon’s sales prices with their listings, just in case they randomly decide to match or raise the price.
