In 2018, God of War introduced players to Kratos’ son Atreus. While gamers were largely drawn to the father-son relationship they established, Atreus was a bit too talkative. This trend continues with the 2022 sequel God of War Ragnarok. But now, we’ve created a new mod for the recently released PC port that makes Atreus and the rest of the gang unable to solve the game’s puzzles.
NexusMods user Mophead01 released the “Please shut up” mod via IGN. This expands on Sony’s previously released options to reduce the frequency of prompts for the puzzles Kratos must solve throughout the game. Mophead01 thinks this does little to solve the actual problem, including the situation where Atreus repeatedly reminds the player how to perform basic actions. As a result, the mod took the drastic step of removing over 1,500 lines of dialogue from the game.
“Tired of companions telling you things you already know? Tired of games treating you like a child if you can’t solve every puzzle right away? This mod removes over 1,500 pointless puzzles, [patronizing] Lines from the game,” Mophead01 wrote.
Unfortunately, for players who own Ragnarok on PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4, this mod is not suitable. So for now, only PC gamers have the chance to keep Atreus quiet for long periods of time.
