Ethereum, the leading blockchain ecosystem, has just announced the development of a third Testnet called Hoodi for Pectra updates, after a bug encountered by Holesky and Sepolia Testnets. This latest update is expected to pave the way for Ethereum to successfully launch Pectra updates on Mainnet by May 2025 and bring positive signals to Ethereum during challenging times.
Ethereum introduces the third test network not to spread
“The new test network Hooli will be launched on Monday to end the Pectra test,” said Tim Beiko, a member of the Ethereum developer team. At a regular meeting on March 13, 2025, the Ethereum development team agreed to launch a dedicated test network for the Pectra upgrade trial, called Hood.

A new Testnet Hoodi will be available online on Monday to end the Pectra test, and if you need to test the validator exit, be aware of it! Everything else can be tested on Sepolia & Holesky.

The purpose of the Pectra upgrade is to launch the Holesky Testnet of Ethereum before Sepolia in late February and early March. As an initial timeline, the Ethereum developer team launched this month’s mainnet. However, The test process on Holesky is not going wellthe transaction was not completed in a few days. Sepolia faces similar off-road vehicle issues, forcing the Ethereum team to suspend all tests last week for investigation.
As a result, the core developers of the network will launch a new test network called hood On March 17, the verification process of Pectra will be resumed from March 26. If all goes well this time, Pectra will be deployed on Ethereum Mainnet in about 30 days, as early as the end of April. However, delays may not be excluded.
Christine Kim (Galaxy Digital) noted that Hoodi will use 20 million test ETH to simulate the Ethereum mainnet, operated by 11 customer teams and 5 staking entities that conduct testing. Some aspects of Pectra will still be tested on Sepolia and Holesky for further optimization.
At a time when Ethereum is facing increasing competition for the next generation of layer 1 blockchains. The paradigm urges faster updates to maintain Ethereum’s competitive advantage. Then, all core developer meetings on February 13 agreed to speed up the upgrade process. However, Pectra’s delay has affected investor confidence, especially as ETH’s performance has been struggling lately.
About Pectra Updates
Pectra Upgrade It is an important update to the Ethereum blockchain, combining two previously independent upgrades: Prague (focused on the execution layer) and electra (focused on the consensus layer). It is one of the two most important upgrades with Dencun in 2024. The Pectra upgrade enhances the scalability, availability and availability of Ethereum, with its features (EIP-7702) (EIP-7702) (EIP-7702), adding fixed limits for validators (EIP-7251) (EIP-7251) (EIP-7251) and Fertaking stating CrossEs (EIP-61110), EIP-61110, EIP-700, EIP-6110, EIP-700, EIP-700, EIP-700.
The continuous problems of Pectra’s upgraded testnet hit Ethereum is a hit to Ethereum, as the world’s second-largest blockchain network has been in trouble with increasing instability over the past six months. Challenges in maintaining competitiveness of other 1-layer blockchains and ETH prices drop eth This leads to loss of confidence within the community and leads to frustration and conflict with the project leadership team.
