No exaggeration to say Robert Scull and Jonny Belt Has become a powerful duo in children’s entertainment. Over the past 25 years, creative partners have been involved in Nickelodeon’s most successful preschool programHis backyard and Foamy guppies. Their trademark humor’s appeal to children and adults continues to be seen in their latest animated projects Super Duper Bunny League.
based on Cartoonist’s Children’s Comic Series Jamie Smart,,,,, The 2D animation adventure comedy series introduces the titular team of Bunny Friends who work together and use their unique power to protect their beloved city. Beat Very happy to chat with Scull and Belt Super Duper Bunny League and work with impressive voice talent.
Taimur DAR: You both worked at Nickelodeon for a while Foamy guppies It ends in ten years. How did you participate Super Duper Bunny League? Is this a property you’ve already realized or something Nickelodeon approaches you?
Robert Scull: Nickelodeon brought it to us. We are working on various IPs. We always want to develop our own IP and are not interested in other people’s IPs. Ramsey Naito [President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation] Love the early readers comics and bring them to us. We said, “We’ll take a look.” We loved it immediately and were surprised. It looks and feels like an animation. Jamie’s sensitivity is great.
Joni Belt: It feels like we and our humor. We know we can adjust it in a way that we don’t like working.
Robert Scull: You don’t have to do any character design either.
[Laughter]
Joni Belt: Jamie’s stuff feels so different that the real attraction from the start is there. We just need not mess it up.
Taimur Dar: Speaking of Jamie Smart, I know that he created something that is suitable for animation is a dream come true. What kind of participation did he participate in the animation series?
Robert Scull: It’s great that we’ll come up with a character or villain we’re considering and say, “Hey, Jamie, we have this character.”
Joni Belt: Just a brief description.
Robert Scull: One day later, he would draw three pages of sketches in his lively style. We will then use Animation Studio and its artists to transform it into something that fits the existing universe.
Joni Belt: Every time I open an email, I see an email and I hate him even more because they are so great, fast and prolific. His time was very generous. He continues to create lots and work alone, but makes some time for us. He is very encouraging. You also want the original author to like this stuff. I think he’s happy. That helps us.
Taimur Dar: The sound actor is excellent and has many famous names like Janelle James Abbott Elementary School and guest stars like Patton Oswalt, Patrick Warburton and Danny Trejo. Have you considered any actors from the beginning, or what is required for the casting process?
Joni Belt: One thing we look for among starring actors and villains is people with such a separate tone that they can’t pretend they are someone else. There is definitely every major actor of ours. Janelle’s voice is very recognizable. She will not be able to make a “princess” sound. Just Janelle. Same as Patton Oswalt or Danny Trejo. These people are known for their individuality. They are not chameleon actors because they pretend they are someone else.
Robert Scull: And they are huge inspiration because you remember them even if you don’t know. When you say, “The guy who sounds like Patton Oswalt.” Then they get Patton Oswalt. We will never be excited again.
Joni Belt: We are celebrating the weirdness of the world that is known for its personality. We really want to push this out.
Robert Scull: Through the actors, we speak unique opinions and we know when we hear it. We have some ideas, but people often show up and they are perfect. Every one of our actors is hearing their voices, [we said]“That’s one!”
Joni Belt: I always think of Mr. Gloper, who is foamy guppies Tino Insan He came in, wearing a bunch of sounds. He would think, “What’s going on?” We said, “Just use your regular voice. It’s great.” That’s what we wanted.
Taimur Dar: The voice director of the series is Sirena Irwin. She is undoubtedly one of the best in the business directed by legendary Andrea Romano. I was so happy to see her for the first time when I was hosting a group about the voices directed at Wondercon last month. Can you say let her participate Super Duper Bunny League What did she bring the table?
Robert Scull: In this project, she is another dream. She chose the measures we are thinking about. In a meeting, we would think in our minds: “It sounds like…” and she would suddenly say [the same thing].
Joni Belt: It’s actually creepy.
Robert Scull: Maybe she was secretly telepathic!
Joni Belt: She is very interesting and warm. I can tell you when there is a VO director that shows the actors really respect and like it. She gave them the time they needed and got a lot of work done. She makes it lively and fresh. Absolutely, she has the incredible ability to master our goals. I miss her and her voice meetings every day because they are fun. She is great. I’ll work with her again in a second.
Taimur dar: The beauty of animation off-picture is thanks to modern technology that you can record remotely. I’m curious if you’re recording actors in the studio or remotely recording actors, and if you’re able to do any ensemble recordings?
Robert Scull: This is mainly the ensemble. We bought them together. Many of them are at home. Some of them entered the studio.
Joni Belt: Three or four [of the actors] It’s Los Angeles. So those guys went into Nick Studio in Los Angeles. Sirena is Los Angeles, so she is in the room with them. mile [J. Harvey] Who plays Stumpy in New York. Bay [Royale] Showing on a trip. They will do as much as possible. We’ll send them a vo suite and they’ll [record] In a hotel room.
Robert Scull: It’s fun to watch them zoom in with each other. The temperature will rise in interesting ways and we have to say, “Don’t be too crazy!”
Joni Belt: Sirena had such a friendly atmosphere in the room that they actually became friends. They would hike together and she would laugh because they played their actual roles in real life.
Robert Scull: They became them, not because of us!
Joni Belt: I won’t say what happened. Everything is through. We are in New York City and we will remain silent and be able to talk to Sirena. We’ll listen and provide Serena’s specific details. But she really works with the actors. They are great and we are very happy. When the sum of the parts creates something bigger, you feel very humble and lucky when that happens. That happened here. Entering the first episode immediately, she thought, “We have something special here.”
Taimur Dar: Finally, can you see any special plot people see or can you make fun of it?
Robert Scull: There is something to love in every plot.
Joni Belt: I think some people have a great performance on preschool humor. We had a life about the dust rabbit and took over the headquarters. About Stumpy’s Cape, he didn’t want to wash it, and it became a villain. I think that kind of playing with preschool issues and humor is the most fun and has a good life in the way rabbits interact.
New episode Super Duper Bunny League Air Saturday at 9:30 am (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.
