What do you think Episode 4 of
swirl? Community rating: 3.5
Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in the final spin of the Vortex – I turn into a snail every time I think about the accidental disaster that will end this adaptation. In fact, I’m still one of those people and my husband gets really annoyed with how frequently he has to mop the floors now. oops.
By now, most of you have seen the infamous slide.png from this episode.
Episode 4 of “Maelstrom” definitely echoes the production of Episode 1, and is better than Episodes 2 and 3 in that regard.
It seems to use the “Mocap->3D->Rotscope” approach – which, alas, is best described as a loose/less polished version of what the first episode accomplished… pic.twitter.com/dRkVsyffdy

This may make you less convinced by me, but episode four is an overall improvement over episodes two and three, but doesn’t quite live up to the visual highlights of episode one. The shot above is the most shocking of the entire run, but that doesn’t do it justice to its overall appearance. The character designs are simplified, the walking cycle is little more than a head shake at times, and everything involving the Twister gang looks like butt. Howeverwhich is largely acceptable because the narrative is more focused.
Episode four introduces newscaster Chie, the only surviving member of the news group, who travels to Kurokura Town to find out what’s going on. The town was in ruins. The slightest disturbance would set off a whirlwind and lay siege to the town. A group of criminals figured out how to “harness” the wind and took great pleasure in destroying any remaining buildings. The only safe places are the townhouses built near Dragonfly Pond, itself a giant whirlpool. People crawl through the rubble looking for shelter and then transform into giant snails.
The sound design remains the most unsettling element of the miniseries, as we hear a series of slurping and smacking sounds as the surviving townspeople use the Snail Brothers as a food source. I got goosebumps when a wayward investigator crawled into the snail shell of his former colleague and ate his flesh alive. Even if the visuals fall short of promise, an okay visual presentation can improve when other elements support it.
The background art, especially when Kirie, Chie, Shuichi, and Mitsuo are trying to escape through the mountains, is some of the best we’ve seen since Uzumaki’s debut. The corkscrew tree and tightly tied headstock are very well done.
The plot of this episode can get boring. We see Kiri and her companions wandering around the ruins of the town most of the time, save for their futile journey into the mountains. This section also features the first time jump, as the crew ends their trip without Mitsuo to find that Kurokura Town has been rebuilt into a giant spiral rowhouse populated by humanoid hordes who are constantly rebuilding the structure. Here, Chie is in a somewhat comical scene, as she fails to escape from the terraced house before coming out and being boarded up by the residents. Kirie and Shuichi break a sweat and move on; in Uzumaki, no one is deeply affected by what happens to a friend or colleague.
The episode ends with the revelation that Kurokura Town was founded on a mysterious, possibly ancient entity, destined to repeat its spiraling curse once it is modernized again. All the previous inhabitants perished, leaving no one left to warn the next generation. Other sites have caused some controversy over the post-credits scene with Shuichi and Kirie and how it “recontextualizes” everything. Not to give a shit to those obsessed with the lore, but confirmation that the Spiral Curse will return isn’t revolutionary. It’s built into the image.
Unfortunately, the Vortex continues the trend of embarrassing attempts This is Junjiworks were put on the screen. I’m still not sure what the correct statement is, but I’m leaning toward the boilerplate, “cancelled due to unforeseen production circumstances,” which we’ve seen in the industry, if for no other reason than to save face.
While each project is created based on its own specific circumstances, I can no longer ignore project success rates adult swim x Produced by IG USAwhich is frustrating. Our partnership to date has brought us Residential Area C (this is bad), FLCL The rights to the sequel have been sold, at least according to Anno Kara go through Gainax (It’s worth noting, though, that the director Tsurumaki Kazuya Considered a “supervisor” progress and choose) and produced four series of quality ranging from “passable” to “dazzling” and forgettable Ninja Kamuia completely misunderstood series blade runnerfrustrating Fina: Pirate Princess It’s a totally bad ending and mostly good shenmue Match.
Many of the series listed above are not airing adult swim no longer for any reason Jason DeMarco It is characterized as “cancellation”. When production issues plague promising episodes, something just doesn’t work, while episodes that are visually unscathed are narrative failures. How much is the brand loss? adult swim/far wave The weather in anime space?
By all accounts, there is a version of the vortex that could work, but it’s unlikely to exist. What I hope most is that Nagahama can try some clever techniques before the project gets out of hand.
grade:
Uzumaki Naruto aired on adult swim and live on Max.
