With Hiro’s character already established and his storyline brewing, it’s time Passive Angler Focus on the supporting characters. Not surprisingly, Hana’s huge personality brings it to the fore, and her antics create yet another charming and poignant plot full of fish.
Hana is interesting because she is full of contradictions. In Hong’s eyes, she was living her own life, but he was surprised to find that she was younger than him and still in high school. She’s mature enough to balance her studies, hobbies, and shifts at the convenience store. Despite this, she is prone to childish games and tantrums. She’s an expert at the technical intricacies of fishing, but her brain overheats when calculating her customers’ change. While Hiro finds these personality quirks irritating, Hana’s example gives him hope. Her life is strange and chaotic, but she still manages to make something work. Her situation isn’t exactly the same as Hiro’s, but they’re similar enough to see something Negative Posey Angler Try to express it by putting them together.
I thought Hana was in college, so I thought a relationship might be brewing between her and Hiro. That’s still possible, but now the show might take a different direction. Hiro’s reaction to his age is thought-provoking and relatable. Thinking that his descendants have surpassed him in all aspects of life, he grimaced and his soul withered. Romance isn’t even involved. The scene where they go fishing together later in the episode is also friendly and familiar. Hana acts like a precocious little sister, and she pulls Hiro along like a big brother. I’m not naive enough to believe that these sibling vibes would hinder the development of a potentially fraught romance (this is the world of anime, after all), but I love their dynamic. Furthermore, with this new information, I now support Takaaki taking action.
The structure of the episode injects a lot of personality into Hana. I have never seen a blue screen of an anime character so powerful and poetic. I laughed out loud at this, and I’m glad to see the show continue to embrace those cartoony touches. To reiterate a point made last week, Hiromi Taniguchi’s character designs are fantastic, and the production seems dedicated to breathing as much life into her creations as possible. Hana’s hair is another great example, I love how bouncy and consistent it is with its large blob shape. This round figure makes her look particularly lively, which is an interesting contrast to Hiro’s gloomy appearance and personality. And at the same time Fairuz Ai is killing it with her performance (if you haven’t done so yet, watch last season’s Yolk Medium Punch Learn more about her gremlin mode voice acting), and I also really enjoyed the wordless montage that summed up Hana’s daily life. Negative Posey Angler No rush at all. It’s confident enough to slow down the plot and make meaningful digressions and character portraits.
This montage highlights Kikutani TomokiSo is the soundtrack. He’s been in the anime world for a while, but I can hear a continuity between his soundtracks and Rock Bochi!. Although the guitar work is suitable for Mouththemes, they also match very well anglerindependent film atmosphere. Clean picking and preparation without being too showy, which is nice. However, if you pay attention, the music will jump out at you like a fish out of water. These are powerful pieces and I’m eager to hear the full soundtrack upon release. I especially like how the music picks up the tempo and bass when someone catches a fish on a line. It feels like a tribute Nobuo Uematsubattle theme final fantasy series, if that was intentional, that would be awesome. After all, fishing is probably the closest thing real life has to random encounters in an RPG.
Finally, this has nothing to do with the plot or its themes, but I was surprised to find how mathematically involved fishing is. I don’t mean just seeing these characters struggling to convert from imperial to metric (and, as an American, I apologize for that). To fish, you have to deal with bait weight, hydrodynamics, water density, tensile strength, component compatibility, spooling speed, etc. Honestly, I haven’t done this before. I love it when my brain wrinkles. I’m not in a hurry to hike to the nearest lake and put on a pair of wading shoes, but I’m starting to understand its appeal. I think Hero does too. It’s like jazz. It’s not just about the fish you catch. It’s as important as the fish you eat No catch.
