I’m supposed to hate this episode. I think everyone is afraid of shows where all the characters sit around a table and talk, because there are only so many ways to make those types of episodes interesting. Sometimes this is necessary for exposition purposes, and this episode certainly falls into that category, but I was also worried that things would become visually boring. I’d love to see this episode dubbed because it’s easier to understand all of this exposition by listening to it than reading it. this dubbing Season 2 just ended and now I can actually talk about it after ignoring it last season. Eric Weir Brings a lot of enthusiasm to Sunraku with funny quips that fit his character and I laughed out loud when I heard them Gabe Kunda As a lore guardian. my favorite part dubbing It’s the rabbits because they all have different ways of speaking, like Billak, who has a little bit of a southern accent. Things like this make the world feel larger and more involved.
Thankfully, even as a sub, I enjoyed this episode because it continued to work Shangri-La border’s strengths, comedy, and character interactions. Not only do we finally get to follow up on all of the previously set player encounters, such as the legendary guardians and tamers, but the way this episode is executed also feels very economical. The narrative doesn’t waste time giving each group a complete plot; everyone is in the same room putting their message on the table. This was all orchestrated by Arthur and Oikazo as they also used the situation to their advantage while taking care of all the trouble. It relies on the unique friendship these three men have. Sunraku has a lot of useful information that can benefit different factions and potentially help advance the game’s story, especially after new story patches are added. I’d love to get more information from other guilds on what exactly they’re trying to do, but I guess not having much information is the point. That’s why Sunraku is such an asset now.
The information everyone wants to get from Sunraku is much more standard than he expected, and I like that he discovers the information in the situation as much as everyone else. I didn’t expect there was a way to remove the curse from him, which makes me wonder if we’ll end up seeing a non-nude Sunraku at some point in the future. We even learned some lore about the Rabbit Kingdom! I’m dying to know more about what’s going on here, and I’m wondering if the show is setting up an ending involving the Black Wolf, who has arguably been the bulk of the story so far. If we get more exposition on this game in the future, I hope it’s handled similarly to how it’s handled here.
