As August goes by, so does Young Avengers, and we’re about to get another season Marvel Snapshot (free). In fact, today starts a new day! You may be wondering what is the theme? Why it’s the best Marvel theme! Season of the Deadly…Scary…Amazing Spider! The bone saw is ready! Sorry, Bonesaw is not in this season. Maybe one day. But there is yes Some cool new cards and locations, let’s check them out!
This season is a little crazy because it introduces a new type of card ability: Activation. With activation, you choose when to trigger a card’s ability. It’s like an “On Reveal” that you can trigger at any time while also being able to dodge things that affect your “On Reveal” ability. The Season Pass card will naturally take advantage of this new feature, and so far he’s looking really crazy. If you’d like to see The People at Second Dinner introduce the new season, I’ve linked the video below. Read on for my summary.
Symbiote Spider-Man is a new Season Pass card. He is 4 cost 6 power, and he has an activation ability that absorbs the lowest cost card in that slot and copies that card’s text. If it contains the Reveal ability, it will trigger again as if the card had just been played. Use HIJINKS with Galactus. I’d be very surprised if this card didn’t get nerfed throughout the season, but he’s certainly been fun to watch.
Now let’s talk about the rest. Silver Sable is 1 cost 1 power, but she has a reveal ability that steals 2 power from the top card of your opponent’s deck. Not bad as a standalone card, very useful in combination with certain locations and other cards. Next up is the star of the hit movie Mrs. Weber. She has an ongoing ability that allows you to move one of the other cards in her spot somewhere else once per turn.
Next up, Alana. Another 1-Cost 1-Power card, she is our next activated ability user. Activate her, moving the next card you play to the right and giving it +2 power. I’m sure she’s going to be a staple in mobile decks. Our spider friend is the scarlet spider, of the Ben Reilly variety. He is a 4-cost, 5-power card that also has activation abilities! Use this to generate an exact clone to another location. Give him strength and multiply it! Clones have no emotions!
As for new locations, there are two. The Brooklyn Bridge is an important part of Spider-Man lore, and it will definitely appear in Spider-Man. Marvel Snapshot. The trick with this position is that you can’t place cards there two turns in a row. You have to get creative to get this spot! Another location is Otto’s laboratory, which operates much like Otto himself. The next card you play there will pull a card from the enemy’s hand to that location. Oh, surprise! The dice are cast!
That’s it for the new season! There are some very interesting cards this time around, and the new activation abilities are sure to create some fascinating possibilities. We’ll be launching our September deck guide soon, because we all need a little help dealing with this wall-crawling menace and his friends. What do you think of this season? What cards do you play? Do you purchase a season ticket? Let us know in the comments!
