During San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Comics revealed next year’s big crossover event will be called The same world at the end of the world. Now, during the “Marvel Comics: The Next Big Thing” panel at New York Comic Con, the company revealed the writer Ryan North and artist RB Silva will take the lead in organizing this event The Rise of the Last Emperora five-issue series set to begin early next year.
Excerpted from this year’s event comics Blood HuntDoctor Doom becomes the new Sorcerer Supreme, and the series will see Doctor Doom use his newfound powers to declare himself ruler of the entire world.
Six months ago, Dr. Victor von Doom became the Sorcerer Supreme and disappeared behind Latveria’s closed borders. For most people, there’s enough going on in the world that Doom’s absence isn’t a priority, and sometimes days without him feel like a blessing. Only a few realize its true meaning…the calm before the storm. Now, a storm has arrived.
The world has awakened to a new reality: Dr. Doom, Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, has magically taken over all broadcast media on Earth and declared himself Emperor of the World – Ruler of the New Latvian Commonwealth! Shockingly and incredibly, all the leaders on Earth seem to agree on this.
Luckily, whatever affects them, whether it’s mind control or doomsday robots, doesn’t affect Earth’s heroes – so they quickly assemble a strike team to stop Doomsday’s plot. But will they succeed? What happens when some people begin to welcome their new emperor with open arms, shouting about “the end of the world”?
North commented, “The same world at the end of the world Saw Dr. Doom coming out of it [Latveria]overnight, took over the world. Each country is a province of united Latveria and each one is responsible for Doom and he is going to make some changes… He is going to show the world that he is the greatest at what he does, This may not sit well with those who don’t have the name Victor von Doom.
