One element of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films that people love to joke about and discuss is that in The Two Towers, U’Gruk, one of the leaders of the Uruk tribe, declares: “It looks like meat is back on the menu. on, kids! It has become a meme, but people point out that Ugluk said that, which also means that restaurants and menus exist in Middle Earth too, and what else would be on their menus. ?We don’t have any clear answers, but Frodo actor Elijah Wood has expressed his thoughts on the matter.
He told Liverpool Comic Con earlier this year that it’s best not to overthink the issue. According to Pop Verse, Wood used an example from Star Wars to illustrate a point on everyone’s mind. Way Too many lines about what should be silly and funny.
“This happens all the time in ancient modern writing. This happens all the time. At one point in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, when he’s talking to General Hux, he says, ‘Wait for Hux. General’, like sorry, let me take your call…what are you talking about?
It’s the same thing with “The Lord of the Rings,” Wood said.
“Meat is back on the menu…what menu are we talking about? It’s something you can take liberties with because it’s a funny joke. It’s a great article and it brings attention to it ,” he said.
No doubt it did get a lot of attention, as people are still discussing and laughing at this quote some 20 years later.
