February dynamite Adding silver eagles Its nostalgic list of new comic titles is based on much-loved works. writer Ed Brisson and artist George Combades lead this book, and Lucio Parrillo, Jae Lee and June Chung, James Stokoe, Geraldo Borges, Declan Shalvey, Lesley “Leirix” Li, Manix, and David Cousens Put their talents on the cover.
Brisson and Kambadais spoke with The Beat about entering the Limbo system.
DEANNA DESTITO: Why do you want the SilverHawks to come back?
Ed Brisson: I am already a big silver eagles I’ve been a fan since I was a kid and never thought they got the love they deserved. I always dig the mashup of police procedurals with a far future sci-fi angle. But the team always lives in Rankin Bass other programs, thundercat, It’s a shame because I always thought they were equal.
Beyond that, I always felt like there might be a deeper lore hinted at in the show, but rarely – if ever – explored. This opens up huge potential for new stories to be told in the same world.
George Cambades: Well… for me, it’s a lot of things, like the nostalgia of one of my favorite childhood animated TV shows, and an opportunity to be a part of it, to expand its legend, so to speak, and of course to be with Ed Opportunity to work together for the first time Brison and [editor] Nate Cosby again!
DESTITO: What can fans old and new expect from this new series?
Brisson: Trying to appease old fans while attracting new readers is always a tightrope to walk, but, as mentioned above, I think the show leaves a lot of clues and opportunities for us to dig deeper into its characters and lore.
There will be plenty of familiar faces and plot threads from the original comics to satisfy long-time fans, but we’ll be digging deeper into the characters’ backstories to hopefully make them feel more well-rounded and grounded. By digging a little deeper, and by showing how each character joined the team, and how they were directly affected by Mon*Star’s reign of terror, I think we’ve provided a great introduction to Stargazer and the crew for those unfamiliar with it. You won’t feel lost when boarding on the platform.
Cambades: I hope fans old and new have as much fun as I do while I’m at it!
DESTITO: Who are your classic characters and who is your favorite?
Cambades: All the main characters will be there. I love everyone being honest! However, as simple as it sounds, my favorite is Quicksilver. He’s their leader and a cool guy!
Brisson: As George said, all the familiar faces show up: Quicksilver, Steel Will, Steelheart, Bluegrass, Cooper Kidd, and Stargazer. We introduced Hotwing as part of the team very early on, which is where we differ from the cartoon – Hotwing came in about halfway through the 65-episode run.
On the other side of the law, our main villain is the intergalactic horror thug Mon*Star, and fans will see many of his henchmen in action: Hardware, Pokerface, Melodia, Windhammer, Mo-Lec-U-Lar, and more .
My favorites tend to change depending on who I’m writing about, but growing up, bluegrass was my choice. This guy is a rockin’ space cowboy with a mohawk, how could he not be. Hotwing is another favorite and I’m really excited for people to see some of the remodeling work that George did on him.
DESTITO: How does it feel to put your own spin on the franchise?
Cambades: I would say I’m excited and excited about it so far… In my last few years with Dynamite, I’ve gotten to work with amazing writers creating characters that I loved as a kid! When a child tells you, “When I grow up, I want to be an artist/writer/etc.” What they imagine is that they will start creating characters like this…and that’s what I did! I get to do something that little George dreamed of doing when he was 10 years old, and I think that’s awesome!
Brisson: This is very interesting. I honestly can’t remember the last time writing a book was this much fun. I love taking something familiar and expanding on it or giving it a new twist. Spending some time writing about the team before they came together, showing who they are and why they ultimately decided to join the Silver Eagles was a very satisfying experience. Nothing to spoil the cartoon; it’s all tacked on and I think readers will be very happy.
DESTITO: If you can with silver eagleswhich team will you choose and why?
Cambades: That’s a hard question to answer…and the obvious answer is right there. I’d love to see Thundercat-Silver Eagle Of course there is crossover, but if we try to think outside the box a little bit…I would say maybe with Voltron It would be cool!
Brisson: Thundercat It feels like that. I’ve been asked a million times by fans and I’d love to do it. VoltronAs George said, this could be fun. It definitely feels like these two teams could exist in the same universe.
SilverHawks will be available on February 5th!
