Amazon has released another wave of official early deals ahead of Prime Big Deal Days, its members-only “October Prime Day” sale (slated for October 8-9), and among its select tablet deals, There’s a new Fire HD 8 at a deep discount.
Quietly announced in a post on Amazon’s blog on October 2, the updated 8-inch tablet comes with more RAM and a better camera than the previous model from 2022. It has introduced several new generative AI features that will be supported on “all Fire Tablets” later this month. It starts at $99.99 with 32GB of storage, which is $30 less than its predecessor’s list price, but will only cost $54.99 before Prime Big Deal Days ends.
The new Fire HD 8 is one of nine Fire tablets currently priced at all-time lows ahead of a 48-hour savings event. These include four of Amazon’s flagship tablets and five models designed specifically for children. (These products come with age-appropriate content, parental controls, protective cases, a two-year worry-free warranty, and at least six months of Amazon Kids+.)

Elsewhere, we’ve found record low prices for two Apple iPads, including the new 13-inch iPad Pro with M4. Technically, these deals aren’t included in Amazon’s official Prime Big Deal Days event, but the scale of the discounts is worth mentioning.
Amazon’s instant discounts on the Samsung Galaxy Tab range are far less exciting – at the time of writing, none of the discounts are close to their previous all-time lows – and when we last checked, there were no Google Pixel tablets on sale there The quantity is zero. The new Fire HD 8 has the same display, processor, 13 hours of battery life, and storage options as the old model, but Amazon added a chunk of extra RAM for “more efficient performance when streaming, gaming, browsing, or downloading photos and videos.” “Enhanced performance”.
