Dylan O’Brien looks back on his audition Frozen 2which doesn’t necessarily go as planned.
this saturday night The actor was recently seen in Late Night with Seth MeyersThe host asked him about his failed audition for the 2019 animated sequel, starring Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel as sisters Anna and Elsa respectively.
O’Brien said he went into the audition without high hopes of getting the role “because I knew I probably wasn’t going to get it.” The actor did not reveal the role for which he was auditioning.
“They’re looking for somebody who’s versatile, who can act, who can sing,” he told Seth Meyers of the musical film. “To be honest, I probably didn’t check it either.”
this teen wolf The alum admitted that he “can’t sing,” but decided to audition because he “didn’t always feel like a real actor.” However, Meyers wonders how long it took casting directors to realize that singing wasn’t one of O’Brien’s top talents.
“This poor woman,” the actor said. “I remember, actually – and this is a specific detail – she asked me painfully if she could be in the chorus because she needed to see if I had a certain vocal range.” O’Brien admits that he “was in the first verse A little bit swimming in the middle,” but eventually “went higher” at the request of the woman, “which was really bad.”
“I know. She knows. It doesn’t matter,” he quipped, but Meyers asked, “Does she know? you Do you know?
“I think so, because when she said ‘Okay, okay’ to me…she said ‘Okay’ twice. I’ll never forget it.” Maze Runner the actor recalled. “And she said, ‘Thanks for coming in. I think we might need a stronger singer,’ and I was already nodding my head and saying, ‘Yeah, I know.’ I was like, ‘Thank you for having me.’
O’Brien added that overall, the audition was a positive experience. “Honestly, I just remember it fondly,” he said, before jokingly telling Meyers, “And then I’m glad they chose to let you ask me that question.”
“We want you to have closure. Can’t you see, Dylan?” the host quipped, to which the actor replied: “Actually, it makes me feel good. I’m serious!”
