You can never have too many LEGO minifigures in a lifetime, and if you dabble in Dungeons & Dragons you’re going to want to check out the new minifigure collection that launched over the weekend. The release of the D&D minifigure line comes just a few months after LEGO released the first set based on the series: a 3,745-piece set called “Red Dragon Tales.” You can add the minifigures to scenes depicted in Red Dragon Stories.

The problem here is that you don’t know which character you’re getting since the characters are sold as mystery boxes. Amazon offers six-packs of random figures for $30, and it’s very rare to find duplicates in LEGO’s prepackaged mini-doll boxes. Historically, though, it wasn’t impossible to get a replica, but you had to be very unlucky.

If you want your minifigure to feel the heat from the dragon, you’ll have to be prepared to spend a lot more cash. Red Dragon’s Tale is priced at $360 and has yet to receive discounts from major retailers. However, My Best Buy Plus/Total members can purchase the bundle for $324. This eye-catching building kit contains 3,745 pieces, and when fully assembled, you’ll have an adorable diorama of the tavern and tower, filled with little details you can admire. A flexible red dragon and gray howling figure perches overhead, but the little figure below doesn’t seem bothered by the dragon’s presence

If you need another excuse to justify buying it, consider it a fun way to spend an evening playing DnD! This set has magic items and traps, as well as several minifigures, which would be great to theme a campaign around.
