Good news, Dune fans. Dune Awakening was showcased at Gamescom Opening Night Live, with a PC version scheduled for release in early 2025, with PlayStation and Xbox release dates still to be determined. That means you – yes, you’re at home – can finally access one of the most anticipated MMOs without having to rely on a closed beta invite. Well, whatever, as long as you have a computer that can run it.
The announcement comes alongside an extended trailer, which shows off the game’s character creator and what you’ll be doing in the early morning hours on Arrakis (desperately trying not to die despite the heat and lack of water). There’s also an overview of how you’ll be able to form (or not) cooperative working relationships with other players for base building, combat, and other survival issues; a brief tour of the crafting system; and some stunning views of the vast, sandy open world.

If you’re unfamiliar with Dune Awakening, it has some interesting things to know about. First, it’s set in an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides hasn’t been born yet, so there’s plenty of room to do interesting things with the rich lore that exists within the Dune universe. The game also looks cool from a gameplay perspective, blending base building with fighting factions and deep dungeons.
With the game set to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, it will be a contemporary MMO worth playing. Let us know what you think of the latest trailer below!
