Dragon’s Dogma 2 has just received a brand new update that adds a new mode to the game, aimed specifically at people who want to have a more relaxed time exploring Wymonde and Ba’tar without having to worry too much about things like every You have to pay for the room every time you check in.
If you didn’t try DD2 when it launched, or gave up on it quickly, that’s okay, but you might be missing out on some great stuff, especially if you like games where you constantly have to ask for directions. The carriage ride could be ruined by the Cyclops at any time.

Following some key tweaks during its June free trial, DD2’s latest update for PC and consoles adds a casual mode to the game, which its description says is designed to offer “an adventure of your own at a more relaxed pace” .
So, how does it do it? Well, that starts with making sure “the pieces can recover from Dragon Plague without a ‘devastating disaster’, even if the symptoms are terminal.” OK It also ensures that “the loss meter will not increase when selecting ‘Load from last save'” after your character’s premature death.
But forget about your life, this update also saves something more important – your money – by reducing the price of ferries and the rent you have to pay to stay in hotels. Obviously, the latter isn’t a problem if you’re already in the property market, but we all know how difficult it is to manage that these days. Finally, casual mode makes running outside of combat less stamina-intensive and makes it harder to carry gear that the game deems heavy.
However, if you choose this new mode, it does appear that you lose the ability to win at least a few trophies during a given playthrough, and can only switch to that character’s normal mode when you reach the end of the game.
While casual mode is the biggest addition, this DD2 update also brings a number of other changes, which you can read about in the patch notes I linked to earlier, including a bunch of adjustments to classes, bug fixes, and the addition of Port crystal buck batar.
So, that’s it. If you’re planning on revisiting DD2 this weekend, let us know below.
