Monster Wrangler is a class that allows you to tame monsters and use their abilities in combat. Unlike most classes, this one requires you to invest time outside of combat to find monsters and earn their abilities for yourself, so it’s not recommended for anyone looking for a simple, no-frills party setup.
As you level up, you’ll eventually gain an ability called “Animal Instinct,” which lets you know when there’s a monster nearby that you can tame. Recruiting them isn’t always easy, however, as you sometimes need to meet certain requirements or use special items to make them befriend you. It’s worth it, though, as filling out your competency inventory is the only meaningful way to advance in this course.

But as players progress through the campaign, adding more and more monster abilities to their arsenal, it can eventually become a formidable force.
This class is especially useful for late-game grinding, such as against metal slimes, as you can use its Call of the Wild/Monster Stacking ability to summon your animal companions against random enemies (or just a heavy attack on a single enemy). Additionally, it can use a whip and boomerang, both of which are excellent weapons for hitting multiple enemies at once.
Ultimately, whether the Monster Wrangler is right for you will all depend on what type of party you want to have. But most groups will likely benefit from the class’s various high-damage abilities and support potential, so don’t shy away from it just because it’s a bit slow to develop!
