In some anime, after a year or so of hiatus, they usually try to get viewers back into the series, whether it’s through filler episodes, special episodes, or a few episodes or so of no action, drama, etc. There are also anime that go straight to the point and expect the audience to already know the series rather than ease into it. Dr. Stone falls into the latter category.
It tries to ease us back into the series at the beginning of the first episode. Still, it’s mostly there to give the gang’s newest member, Ryusei, an idea of what happened while he was petrified. Even if it’s for the sake of updating Ryusei, it’s a nice recap of what happened in previous seasons. However, it wasn’t long before (right after the season premiere) that the show jumped right into the storyline. So if you haven’t started watching the series yet, don’t expect to be able to watch it easily.
