Primetime in 2024-2025 will be packed with new and returning medical dramas that audiences around the world will enjoy, but only one will take you to the high seas.
Get ready to set sail this fall with a new medical series from creative genius Ryan Murphy.
Doctors Odyssey tells the story of a medical team led by TV star Joshua Jackson, no stranger to dramatic shows like Dr. Death and Little Fires Everywhere.
The former Warner Bros. actor isn’t alone. He’s joined by some familiar faces and well-known names, some of whom are no strangers to the small screen themselves.

Featuring a talented cast, a creative premise, and someone behind the scenes who knows how to tell a story, everything we know about Doctor Odyssey is here!
What is Doctor Odyssey about?
Max (Joshua Jackson) is the new ship’s doctor on a luxury cruise ship where the staff work hard and play hard.
Max and his small but mighty medical team respond to a unique medical crisis miles from the coast, all working together.
As is typical with Ryan Murphy, not much was revealed ahead of the show’s premiere.
Still, the producer is known for keeping quiet about iconic series like “American Horror Story.”
It’s certainly a unique approach to a medical drama, considering how many things can go wrong on a cruise ship.
However, it may limit itself. If the luxury cruise line suddenly had a large number of sick or injured passengers, it would be unlikely that the company would appear to be very luxurious.
The question then is how severe these cases will become, since even the largest ships have only a handful of medical professionals.
But it’s all part of the excitement of the upcoming show, and there’s no doubt that Murphy’s unique approach to plot will be full of twists and turns that will keep viewers coming back for more every week!
Who is Dr. Odyssey?
So far, no names have been announced for the characters other than Jackson’s Max, but since the cast list itself is pretty barebones, it seems like the show is leaning toward keeping all the information under wraps.
Joshua Jackson (“Fatal Attraction”) stars as Max
Don Johnson (Blood and Oil)

Philippa Sue (“Girls of Light”)
Sean Teale (The Genius)
There are quite a few people at the helm of this series. Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson serve as executive producers, with Ryan Murphy also serving as screenwriter.
Joining the actor and producer are Jon Robin Baitz, who previously worked on Brothers & Sisters, and American Horror Story’s Joe Baken.
The story will be spearheaded to glory by Paris Barclay, who will serve as director after a long career working on shows like Station 19 .
But wait, there’s more!
This action-packed journey needs as many captains as possible, and the executive producer list also includes Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Coffton, Scott Robertson and Nyssa Diedrich.
As the fall TV schedule approaches, more names associated with the show may be dropped.
However, the network wants to make sure viewers know they are in good hands with Murphy, Jackson, Johnson and other seasoned industry veterans.

You don’t need to travel to the middle of the ocean to find out what the luxury cruise line’s medical team and crew are doing, because ABC has you covered.
The show will air in prime time on Thursday night, September 8, but no date has been confirmed yet.
It can air at the beginning or mid-season of a television season.
