Disney+ July 22 announced it would stream a “definitive” documentary on actress, singer and author Julie Andrews from director-producer R.J. Cutler (Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry, Martha) in 2027.
The official title will be announced at a later date.
The doc is designed to offer an intimate and revealing look at 90-year-old Andrews’ life journey, from her early days in British vaudeville to her meteoric rise as a global superstar.
Featuring never-before-seen archival footage and candid new interviews, the film pulls back the curtain on the woman behind Mary Poppins, The Sound of Musicand The Princess Diaries.
“Julie Andrews is not simply a beloved performer,” said Cutler. “She is a cultural touchstone, a figure woven into the fabric of how generations of people understand joy, resilience and grace.”
The documentary is produced by This Machine (a part of Sony Pictures Television). Cutler also serves as producer alongside Trevor Smith, Elise Pearlstein, Jane Cha Cutler and Jonathan Ruane. Mark Blatty serves as the executive producer.
