Diamond’s bankruptcy filing continues to reveal the internal operation of the industry a giant. The “big guy” I’ve been thinking about has just fallen down, including all the money owed to creditors, including dozens of comics companies, and another listing of recent financial transactions. All of this has a lot of private information, so even though it is public, we won’t link directly to it. But, something that seems worth noting.
- Diamond’s total revenue in 2023 was US$344.9 million; in 2024 it was US$326.4 million. TEH’s first two weeks of 2025 showed that the average weekly income was 50% of the average weekly income in 2024. It does give a picture of how the decline in revenue led to the decision to find buyers in September. In early August, several “insiders” stances were fired, indicating the trajectory of decline.
- In “Patent, Copyright, Trademark or Trade Secret” with no assigned value, we find the following:
- Steve Geppi received $184,994.22 in credit card fees in the first nine months of 2024. As the owner of a “comic bank”, it is probably not too strange to expect that the owner of a certain lifestyle.
According to the documents, Diamond will attend the Toy Fair in early March – the booth space has been paid. There are also some representatives who will be at Comicspro in Glendale, California, which will begin today.
There is a lot of other information in the latest file that most people can read, so I won’t get involved in it now, except to say a lot of publishers/entities you never thought were more profitable than you’d thinking; many about success The company has fewer metrics than you think.
Diamond Comics declared bankruptcy on January 14, and appears to be auctioning its assets, with a deadline of March 19, 2025 (one month from today). A hearing on the sale will be held on March 24.
