Good Deed Entertainment has acquired global rights hanging doga comedy film starring Desmin Borges and Kelly O’Sullivan.
Director Matt Cascella’s feature film is scheduled to be released on digital platforms on October 25, and will be screened in advance theaters in selected cities before then. Additional cast members include Barbara Rosenblatt, Steve Coulter, Catherine Curtin and rescue dog-turned-performer Mr. Tibbs.
Located in Portland, Maine, hanging dog Walt (Borges) spirals into anxiety as he tries to retrieve his stolen dog before his girlfriend Wendy (O’Sullivan) returns from a business trip.
The film won audience awards at the Woods Hole Film Festival and the New Hampshire Film Festival. It also screened at the Provincetown International Film Festival, Berkshire International Film Festival, and Calgary International Film Festival.
Casella directed the film from a screenplay by Jean Corddry. Casella, Borges, Alyssa Lorenbeck and Patrick White serve as producers.
“Matt and Jen have crafted a charming and engaging coming-of-age film hanging dogwe are excited to bring this wildly popular film to audiences nationwide this October,” said Erik Donley, GDE’s head of acquisitions and distribution, in a statement.
Owl Tree Productions executive producer Jamieson Shea oversaw the filmmaker’s deal, while Donley negotiated with the distributor.
