Hulu releases a fascinating trailer for the documentary child starfrom child stars and singers Demi Lovatowho co-directed the doc Nicola Marsh (Stay on board: Leo Baker’s story, Victim No. 12, omnivore).
The film features interviews with many popular child actors such as Drew Barrymore, Keenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven Simeone, JoJo Siwaand Alison Stoner.
The plot synopsis is as follows: “This documentary child star Explore the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most famous former child stars.
“Through celebrity interviews, real-life scenes and archival footage, the film deconstructs the early stages of stardom and examines the entertainment system of the past century.
“Co-director/actor Demi Lovato sat down with iconic former child stars including Drew Barrymore, Keenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven Simone, JoJo Siwa, Alison Stoner, and more, Reflect on their personal experiences working in the entertainment industry.
“Together they explore the next generation of child actors and how to move forward in a changing environment.”
This looks very interesting and well done. We see similar stories and cautionary tales in documentaries showbiz kids From Filmmakers and Teen Stars Alex Winter On HBO, Hulu 90 year old child directed by child actor Thorley Moon Fryand most recently HBO’s Quiet on setwhich does delve into some dark themes.
I love that each of these docs involves different actors, and I’ve loved watching these actors over the years and they get to speak and tell their stories.
