After a period of delays, the Delta Force: Eagle PC alpha has officially begun in the West. Older versions of the game have been available in Asia for a while, but this is the first time Western players have been able to get their hands on it.
Well, those lucky enough to be invited, anyway. That’s because, although this is an open beta, it’s still by invitation only. You can certainly say your name, but access is not guaranteed.

For now at least, there are limited ways to get into the Hawk Ops alpha on PC, you can sign up on the official website or on Steam. While the game is/will be available on Steam, you can grab it directly from its website – assuming you receive an invitation.
The third way to gain access is probably how most players play the game, and that’s by chasing Drops on Twitch. Many of the participating streamers are currently streaming playing the game and are responsible for pushing Hawk Ops to the front page of Twitch, with over 50,000 viewers at the time of writing.
If you watch any of these shows for an hour or more, you will receive a message on Twitch containing your access key. To claim your keys, you will also need to create a Level Infinite account (if you don’t already have one) and connect it to your Twitch account. You know what to do.
Unfortunately, it seems those invitations are not going out as expected. Many players reported watching more than 60 minutes of Drops live without receiving a key. This is likely a result of increased demand, as invitations to popular games are often delayed.
So far, impressions from those who’ve been able to get in have been pretty positive, with many praising the gunplay and action, the gratification of support calls (such as this devastating missile), and the striking resemblance to Battlefield.
That said, Hawk Ops does have artificially intelligent bots, but they’re not clearly labeled, which many hardcore gamers don’t like. There’s also an odd limitation once you’re in a match: you can’t edit your loadout during a match – although you can save multiple loadouts before a match.
It’s worth noting, though, that Twitch Drops will disappear in waves on certain days. Check out this blog post to learn more.
