Death Stranding was originally released on PlayStation 4 in November 2019 and is widely regarded as a strange masterpiece. my citycomments Call it a “silly, obvious, perfect” game that touches on everything from fatherhood to American politics to “throwing grenades made of your own urine and feces at ghosts.” This is also a game about a delivery boy trying to get up on the hill.
As is typical these days, the PC version was released eight months later, and then in September 2021, a brand new version of the game launched, titled Death Stranding: Director’s Cut. This is another PlayStation console exclusive that also has a PC version and – rather strangely – is included in Game Pass For PC. But there’s still nothing on Xbox.
However, as the game’s fifth birthday approaches, some sort of exclusivity deal appears to have expired, meaning the game was able to launch unexpectedly on Xbox overnight. This is director’s cut Edition, as mentioned earlier, is half price for the next few weeks. The agreement also applies to PC and PS5.

Creator Hideo Kojima wrote in a press release: “I am delighted to finally announce Death Stranding Director’s Cut Will be delivered to Xbox players. I want to thank all the fans who have stayed in touch with us and everyone in the Xbox community for their patience.
The game is not yet included in Game Pass. You know Microsoft is going to want it there, so it’s a gamble if you want to hold out and hope.
