Two of Batman’s most vicious villains may soon be appearing on the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC Films has hired screenwriter Matthew Orton (Captain America: Brave New World) to write a movie featuring Bane and Deathstroke.
No director has been confirmed yet, and there’s no guarantee the film will be released. But, it was written with the hope that it would happen. io9 reached out to DC for comment or clarification and we will update the article if we hear back.
The move occurred on the eve of the second clown Movie, Clown: Pas de deuxon Warner Bros. and DC and Penguin Growing in popularity on Max. While these iterations of the Bat-villain aren’t part of the larger DC Universe being developed by DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, each one proves that projects about villains can be successful. Not to mention Gunn and David Ayer’s suicide squad Movie. All of this definitely has a lot to do with the Bane Deathstroke movie in development.
Bane, of course, was played by Tom Hardy in Christopher Nolan’s film. The Dark Knight Rises. While that was the character’s biggest cultural moment, he rose to prominence in the comics for breaking Batman’s back in the hit comic Knightfall. Fatal Strike was introduced earlier and appeared in titan television programs and brief justice leaguePlayed by Joe Manganiello. This version of the character is also almost a villain in a Ben Affleck movie batman movie, and even wanted to make his own movie, but that never happened. Obviously.
Now the question is, could this movie take place before or after brave and boldwhich movie is expected to introduce Batman to the DC Universe? It might be cool and fun to hang out in the Rogues Gallery before meeting the Caped Crusader and Wonder Boy. Or, considering the film already has a director (The Flash’Andy Muschietti) But that’s not it, maybe it’s something further. The development status of all of these DC projects remains largely a mystery.
All we know is this. biocommandoSet to air on Max on December 5, it will be Gunn and Safran’s first official story in the DC Universe. Next will be superman July 2025 and Supergirl: Girl of Tomorrow June 2026. lantern The show is currently casting, as well as at least one unrelated Batman movie, Matt Reeves’ Batman Part 2, Released in October 2026.
