DC is looking to the future by looking to the past.
The entertainment company announced its new logo on Friday, which includes that of its fledgling screen media unit DC Studios. This is a logo that many fans and readers are familiar with.
The company is relaunching the classic logo known as the “DC Bullet,” which graced the company’s publications for nearly three decades from 1977 to 2005. (Milton Glaser), who also launched famous works such as the “I love” NY” logo. Not only is his DC logo the most enduring, but it came during a period of rising pop culture influence, making it even more impressive.
DC President and Publisher Jim Lee said the logo was designed to evoke its powerful legacy while ushering in a new era of storytelling.
“For me and generations of fans, this special icon defined DC’s heyday,” Lee said before the unveiling of the “Jim Lee and Friends” panel at San Diego Comic-Con. “I remember during the DC revival in the 1980s, Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns, Shadow Come out, that’s the DC logo. In the minds of many fans, this is what defines the DC brand. It’s exciting to bring it back.

Starting in October, the Glaser logo will begin appearing on comics, toys and merchandise. As a sign of unity across the divisions, the logo will also appear on DC Studios’ film and television projects.
DC Studios also unveiled a motion graphic introducing its films starting with next year’s Superman. The image moves away from the cumbersome multi-character, super-cut introductions of recent years from DC or rival Marvel Studios, instead opting for a simpler, cleaner approach.
“We love the simplicity of the MGM lion,” DC co-head Peter Safran said ahead of the graphic’s debut. “It’s timeless and classic. We thought, ‘What are the elements that we have in place to achieve something like this?’ ” Superman is the same for DC.
In the graphic, Superman is resurrected in a drawing by his co-creator Joe Shusteer, breaking free of his chains before the Glaser logo appears.
“It’s a great metaphor for what we’re doing together,” the executive said.
During Friday’s panel, DC Studios co-head James Gunn also introduced preliminary footage and a trailer for the new adult animated Max series biocommando, This is DC Studios (Gunn’s Supermandue out in July 2025, is the division’s first film).
Actor David Dastmalchian, creator of the horror comic Earl Crawleytalked about upcoming work biocommando The comic will also be released in October. Comics writers Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson and Tom King were also on hand to talk about DC’s new publishing initiative “DC All In” launching this fall.
