DC’s compact comics line is popular with readers and retailers… but it’s not that compact anymore. DC has announced that all games in the series will be re-released… and 15 more games will be released in 2025.
The Compact series, available in June, comes in a lovely 5.5″ x 8.5″ standard book format with an irresistible cover price of $9.99. DC’s lineup of some evergreen bestsellers is a recipe for success.
“DC has one of the largest comics libraries in the world, and DC Comics Lite makes it easy for new readers or curious graphic novel readers to easily access DC’s most popular titles in an accessible, value-for-money format similar to mass-market paperbacks and comics. A copy of one of the most iconic stories in history,” DC senior vice president and general manager Anne DePies said in a statement. “By innovating DC’s storytelling in popular genres such as suspense, science fiction, adventure, and thriller, we are able to continuously deliver new products and expand our distribution pipeline.”
All 10 first-run titles will go into second printings, with Watchmen receiving its third printing in September.
These 15 new games include more popular games: Kingdom Come Mark Waid and Alex Ross, Batwoman: Elegy Author: Greg Rucka and JH Williams III (Yes!) DC: new frontiers Author: Darwin Cook, V for Vendetta Author: Alan Moore and David Lloyd, us 3 Authors: Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. These products will begin hitting shelves in May 2025.
“The expansion of our DC Compact Comics series through 2025 allows us to showcase the breadth and depth of DC’s iconic characters,” DePies continued. “The DC Compact Comics Collection is now available in airports, libraries, select mass market and online retailers, as well as bookstores, local comic shops and more. We want to make it as easy as possible for readers to discover more from DC’s vast library of comics Lots of content. DC Compact Comics is an affordable entry into the DC Universe, with each title being a stand-alone graphic novel suitable for new readers.
