DC Comics Artist Kevin Maguire Recently talked about the time he visited the set James Gunncoming soon Supermanthe first film set in DC’s Gods and Monsters: Part 1.
In an interview with Comic Frontier, Maglire talked about watching Gunn shoot scenes set in the Fortress of Solitude, and what he expected to see from Gunn while making the film and building out the DCU.
The artist said: “Me and some other writers and artists were invited to spend a day on the set of Superman in May. They showed us everything. They showed us pre-production stuff. They showed us some lens.
“I walked around the set of Fortress of Solitude and watched them shoot scenes. There was definitely JLI influence there.”
He added: “It doesn’t surprise me because, you know, Guardians of the Galaxy and suicide squadif James Gunn’s universe were to form a Justice League, it probably wouldn’t be Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, or The Flash. It could be like those weird, offbeat characters. Like, I don’t think it’s going to be anything like our original lineup.
“I’m sure we’ll be adding, like, I don’t know, any weird characters. He loves weird characters. That’s who we are. So it’s great. I’m glad he’s in charge. Unfortunately Keith isn’t.” But it’s nice to see Until his work lives on.
Maguire is probably right to think that Gunn will bring a very different and unique twist to the Justice League team. This is evident from the team that currently looks to include Guy Gardner, Mister Terrific, Metamorpho, and Hawkgirl. We also know that Maxwell Lord is funding the organization, so this appears to be a “corporate” alliance before Superman forms his own team.
Superman will follow “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent in Smallville, Kansas.” He was the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that viewed kindness as obsolete.
