Season 1 Percy Jackson and the Gods of Olympus Disney+ was a huge hit (and buzz) when it premiered last year and gave fans the book adaptations they’d always wanted. Season 2 is currently in production, and judging by the trailer from last night’s D23 panel, Disney is going all-in on adapting Rick Riordan’s children’s book series.
While the trailer is primarily a recap of the first season, it also offers a brief preview of what’s to come. Like in the 2006 book sea of monsters, Percy (Walker Scobell) will compete in Camp Half-Blood’s chariot race as an early game. Season 2 picks up a year later, with the son of Poseidon embarking on another quest involving the Greek gods. This time, he and Annabeth (Leah Sawa Jeffries) are on a mission to find the Golden Fleece and save the camp from Cronus and his army. Joining the pair are Daniel Demer’s Cyclops, Percy’s half-brother Tyson, and Dio Goodjohn’s Ares’ daughter Clarice, who are each responsible for retrieving the Golden Fleece. Their adventure will eventually take them to the Sea of Monsters, aka the Bermuda Triangle.
sea of monsters Fox adapted the show back in 2013, which was the final film in the short-lived series. Riordan and company clearly wanted the show to go further than those films, and with his involvement, it would be more accurate to the source material. As for what else to look forward to this season, the cast teased some moments from the books, such as Grover donning a wedding dress and more romance between Percy and Annabeth.
expected Percy Jackson Season 2 will return on Disney+ sometime in 2025.
