Jared Bird: How can you sell people who are not familiar with them Losing fantasy?
Curt Pires: I take it as a fantasy rooted in fantasy West East and Something is killing the child. This story is about agents patrolling and protecting our world from myths and terrifying creatures, trying to cross our world – from the magical world that exists under our own structure. There’s a little Harry Potter There, under our own structure, there is a whole hidden magical reality.
Bird: What is it like to work with Luca Casalanguida?
pires: Great – Luca is a superb professional. This is the third book we have completed together and it is becoming our longest collaboration yet.
Bird: Fantasy, as a genre, has recently been reborn in comics, especially epic fantasy. Do you think it attracts people again?
pires: Like you said – fantasy is epic. It has a range and scale that is difficult to compete with. I think fantasy is a very traditional and full of quirky genre, so what we are seeing now is creators and creators throwing it into a postmodern blender and finding a way to bring everything that fantasy is pleasant to the present.
Bird: How did your love for JRPG influence the storytelling of comics? Adapt this type of storytelling method to another medium?
pires: One thing I think that JRPGs and some of the best comics are in common is that they know how to take advantage of this epic miracle of childhood. So, I’ve been trying to do this. We need cool creatures, cool character designs, and most importantly, the Great Sword. But, in reality, everything should be visually interesting and exciting because it is exciting – a visual medium after all.

Bird: Are you consciously trying to make the world-building of the series unique or happening organically?
pires: I want to root Terra’s history (the magical world below) in our own history, so the world will feel life and rooted, not just some stereotypical fantasy world. I think one way we can achieve this is to show you the worlds in different places in the history of the world and our world interact and leap across – including some famous presidents and so on.

Bird: You will also recommend your other works to your favorite readers Losing fantasy?
pires: I am very proud of other works in the Image Comics, Olympia and Indigo Children. Both series are collected in trade paperbacks and I think they will attract Losing fantasy. Apart from that, I’m launching another creator-owned comic Amilcar Pinna A few months later dstlry Called Milky WayI’m very excited.
Bird: Thank you very much for your precious time.
