    The crypto industry is known to offer the best salaries on the market, creating exciting opportunities for job seekers.

    To determine whether cryptocurrency-related jobs actually pay better than other fields, NFTevening analyzed 1,169 cryptocurrency/blockchain-related jobs. We then identified some notable trends in salary and demand in the job market, which are documented in this report.

    methodology

    The data for this report was collected from various sources and methods to ensure accuracy. We collected job-related information from LinkedIn using keywords such as “crypto,” “cryptocurrency,” and “blockchain.” This analysis focuses on job openings published in the United States. Data fields collected from each list include Job title, salary, status, experience level, remote work options, job functions and required skills.

    Information about other jobs, including technical positions, comes from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. For technical jobs, only the following positions are available “Computing and Mathematics Careers” Categories are considered for comparison.

    Data on artificial intelligence related jobs comes from business reportwhich involves scraping and analyzing job postings from eight of the most popular recruitment platforms.

    Cryptocurrency Salary Comparison to Other Careers

    Cryptocurrency jobs offer extremely high salaries in many industries. Compared to regular jobs, salaries in the crypto industry are 152.84% higher. Even compared to technology jobs, crypto employees earn 46.31% more, while they earn 15.86% more than artificial intelligence professionals.

    Average salary by seniority

    Experience has a huge impact on how much people earn in the crypto industry. Entry-level positions start at $124,462, and mid-level positions average $176,771. Senior professionals earn even more, with annual salaries reaching $217,114.

    Average salary by state

    Of the 29 states collected, California has the highest average cryptocurrency job salary $184,945 per year. Meanwhile, Minnesota has the lowest average salary $86,669, This means the pay gap between the best-paying states and the worst-paying states is 113.4%.

    States like New York, California, and Georgia offer the highest-paying cryptocurrency jobs. Positions such as Quant PM in New York can earn up to $1 million per year, and high-level positions in California and Georgia can earn more than $180,000 per year.

    The 10 states with the highest employment demand

    New York leads the cryptocurrency job market, with 23.87% of all job openings coming from the state. California follows closely behind with 21.90%, making these two states major centers for cryptocurrency careers. Texas, Washington and Maryland round out the top five, but their shares are much smaller compared to New York and California.

    Remote working is very popular in the cryptocurrency industry, with 43.28% of job postings allowing employees to work from home. The average salary for these remote roles is $173,359.44, which is slightly lower than the $175,642.56 for hybrid roles.

    Key Roles in the Cryptocurrency Job Market

    IT and engineering positions are at the heart of the cryptocurrency job market, accounting for 43.46% of positions. Analytics and research positions follow closely behind, accounting for 17.62% of job openings, while business development positions account for 10.35% of job openings.

    Most popular jobs in IT and engineering

    The most popular job position in the cryptocurrency industry is software engineer, with an impressive average annual salary of $209,106. According to statistics, this figure is 78.49% higher than the average income of software engineers in the United States. Glassdoor (November 20, 2024).

    Other key positions include Blockchain developers, backend developers, protocol engineers, and security engineerseach catering to the technology needs of the industry.

    The crypto industry offers some of the most competitive salaries, especially for leadership positions. Of the six main categories, Analytics and Research leads the way, with top jobs earning an average annual salary of $241,459.

    Finance and Accounting is the second-highest paying category, leading the average ranking $221,936 per year. IT and engineering jobs also offer good salaries, with average $198,288 per yearreflecting the technical skills required in the industry.

    Other high-paying categories include Management & Operations, Business Development, and Marketing & Communications.

    Leadership roles in the cryptocurrency industry bring significant financial rewards. Quantitative PM – the status of digital assets Analysis and Research Offers the highest revenue, potentially reaching $1 million per year in top locations. Likewise, the VP of Engineering in the IT and Engineering department can earn upwards of $400,000 per year.

    There are also high-paying positions in business development and finance, with a vice president of sales making about $565,000 a year and a chief financial officer making an average of $500,000.
