Hidetaka “SWERY” Suehiro: When the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, stay-at-home orders were strictly enforced and social gatherings and going to the office became taboo. However, the team still needed to make progress on the game, so I came up with the idea of meeting virtually and handing out VR headsets to everyone at White Owls. It was a great experience and inspired me to create a safe space where we can gather at any time.
Are you concerned that VR as a platform hasn’t been widely adopted yet?
Swery: Not really. I believe any technology takes time to grow and scale. Especially when you equip something on your body, your body needs time to get used to how it feels and the element of “stress” it leaves behind. Most importantly, however, our team gained valuable experience in the creative process and challenges we faced while making our first VR game, experience that will surely come into play in future games. Similar to when the telephone or car was first invented, it took a while for it to become integrated into the daily lives of the generation at that time. Perhaps as our generation ages, it’s not far-fetched to imagine many of us sitting together and partying through virtual reality.
As seen in the trailer, what’s the relevance behind the character’s name, November Knight?
Swery: After defeating other characters in single-player mode, you can actually read their rich history in the Library option within Character Profile in the Menu. Regarding the November Knight, he is the final boss in the single player mode. While I don’t want to spoil too much, I will say that we get his name from this story Frankensteinwhich was created one night in November…and your imagination will do the rest.
Dismemberment is an interesting concept to add to a gambling game. What was the inspiration behind this idea?
Swery: When we first started working on VR games, we wanted to focus on creating a social multiplayer game that maximized visual, auditory, and sensory stimulation through VR technology. With this in mind, we thought it would be fun to emphasize the heightened sense of magic in VR by creating situations where you experience one-by-one loss of sensation.

Swery: In the beginning, when we were developing the concept for the game, there was no. However, as we were working on it, I realized that the concept of the game and the options to “cheat” were closely related to combat in D’Arby the Elder. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventurethe part that led me to re-read the manga. I’m secretly hoping to work together in the future to create a mode where players face off against Elder Dabi and say lines like “I bet Kakyoin’s soul!”

Swery: Since the game is developed as a social game, we focused primarily on the multiplayer experience. However, in the near future we hope to create more experiences for single player players by adding different mini-games or incorporating NPCs into some of the tabletop games already available in the current multiplayer mode. Initially, we wanted to add Russian roulette. However, we realized it had become too popular steamso we decided to leave that out and focus on creating our own unique tabletop game.
What other media (film or TV) do you enjoy in your spare time?
Swery: I’ve finished reading it, but general Keeps me glued to the screen, excited for new episodes to come out every Tuesday. now i’m watching Dragon House Season 2, has become my current favorite.
Do you have any final words for your fans in the US?
Swery: death game hotel Not only is White Owls’ first VR game, it’s also our first multiplayer game. It’s a carefully curated space for anyone from around the world to gather at any time. Even the developers and I have jumped into multiplayer mode, with the opportunity to play and interact with other online players.
