Tonight’s episode of MGM+’s “Cocaine Hotel” ratcheted up the tension with a whirlwind of betrayal, power struggles and emotional breakdown, making it one of the most gripping episodes yet.
The episode begins with a haunting nightmare, as Roman is tortured by the memory of his wife’s death. This sets the tone for his tense interaction with Marisol, who urges him to get their daughter Valeria to safety. Roman’s explosive reaction highlights his deep-seated guilt and paranoia, pushing Marisol to the breaking point and causing her to leave him. This effectively showcases Roman’s increasingly fragile mental state and his shaky relationships.
Valeria reaches out to Andrew, who is devastated by his father’s death. Their tense conversation reveals the cracks in their relationship, and Andrew suspects Nestor of driving a wedge between them. Valeria is clearly grappling with her loyalties and the reality of the dangerous world she’s been thrust into.

The core of the episode centers on Roman’s confrontation with Nestor over the murder of a congressman. Roman’s rage and Nestor’s unyielding stance create palpable tensions that reveal the unstable dynamics of their criminal enterprise. This scene subtly escalates the conflict between the brothers, culminating in Nestor issuing an ultimatum: Accept his authority or leave. This power struggle not only drives the plot forward, but also adds depth to their intricate brotherhood.
The Gilberto and Ray subplot is a chilling look at the lengths people will go to protect their interests. Gilberto’s interrogation and Yolanda’s brutal threats against Ray raise the stakes and illustrate the brutal nature of their actions. Ray’s desperate search for new political allies and subsequent betrayal by Zulio injects a sense of urgency and danger, culminating in a shocking act of violence that is sure to have a lasting impact.
The introduction of Justice Department agents and conflicts within the law enforcement team add another layer of intrigue. Zulio struggles to maintain control of the investigation and ultimately falls into a moral compromise, killing Ray without a second thought in order to successfully inject himself into Gilberto’s world, highlighting the blurred lines between right and wrong in their world.

Marisol’s departure and her heartfelt conversation with Valeria contrast sharply with the violence of the episode. It humanizes the characters and shows the devastating impact that Nestor and Roman’s crimes have on their loved ones. Valeria’s decision to stay with her father shows that no matter what her father has done, her loyalty to him is unwavering.
Tensions reach dangerous levels when Alejandra overhears Marisol telling Valeria that Roman is working with the DEA. When Roman wakes up, Nestor holds a gun to his temple, and Nestor demands to know whether Roman or his wife is a liar. Cornered, Roman explains that they threatened to take Valeria away, leaving him no choice. An enraged Nestor wanted to kill him, but Roman countered that his actions had diverted the DEA’s attention to the Colombians instead of them. Roman encourages Nestor to plant a pair and pull the trigger, emphasizing that he sacrificed his family’s safety to protect Nestor. Although Nestor declares that he will never trust Roman again, Roman calmly responds that he doesn’t care and insists that they must stick to the plan and let the DEA take the cocaine.
The episode culminates in a high-stakes meeting between Roman, Nestor and Zulio, who strike a dangerous deal with the DEA. Roman’s manipulation of Yolanda and subsequent confrontation with Gilberto are masterfully executed, showcasing his cunning and desperation. The final twist, with the Colombians targeting Valeria and Justice Department agents tragically trying to intervene, has viewers on the edge of their seats, eager to see how the clues will be unraveled.
