Firaxis just made a cameo during Gamescom Opening Live 2024, giving us all a first look at Civilization 7 gameplay through a new trailer, and providing a specific release date of February 11, 2025.
As the studio and publisher 2K said ahead of time after announcing the game at Summer Games Fest, we knew this trailer would be released just to make sure no one missed out on marveling at a little bit of history in one map, just like Just like real life friendships fall apart depending on who sacked whose city.

Firaxis Games’ Ed Beach took the stage to give us our first impressions of Civilization 7, sharing that it’s “the biggest and most ambitious game Firaxis has ever made.”
Enjoy that? Well, after Opening Night Live ends, Firaxis will be hosting a Civilization 7 gameplay showcase on their Twitch channel, which you can watch at 9:30pm BST (i.e. 4:30pm ET, 1:30pm PT and 10:30 pm) to watch the show CEST. “Over 20 minutes, we’ll share exclusive insights from the development team on this revolutionary new chapter in the series, including our vision for the game and its innovative new features,” the studio said of what to expect from the game. wrote.
One more thing we can tell you about Civilization 7 is that it won’t be using 2K’s launcher on PC, which will save you time and get you straight into trying to craft your way to cultural victory, though You actually play as Julius Caesar, and your goal from the beginning is to blow everyone to smithereens.
