Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 2 is filled with intense phone calls and internal drama, and we’re prepared for it.
After a relatively quiet premiere last week, the hottest firefighter show gave us an hour of action on Wednesday.
This episode takes a surprising turn with more details about 118’s new leader, Damon, causing friction in the Stellaride lands, and as for Carvolet…well, I’ll get to that .

Hermann passes the smell test
I don’t say this lightly.
This Herman-smelling sexy storyline is my favorite light-hearted moment on Chicago Fire.
First of all, who can resist a couple who have been in love for a long time but are still passionate about each other and bothering each other?
Secondly, nothing compares to the hilarity that ensues when Herman recruits Ritter to help him sniff out strangers so he can get laid.
These shenanigans are why we love this show so much.
Between boundless friendship, healthy masculinity, and ridiculous silliness, we get a mix of soap opera and comedy that rarely disappoints.

This is why I no longer ship Carver and Violet
ah. In this episode we learn that after Carver told Violet he was in love with her, she completely disappeared.
Then, despite her apologies and attempts to be nice, he completely ignored her since returning from vacation.
I hate the way he talks about the girl he’s dating and continues to treat Violet like she’s invisible, which is immature and vulgar on his part.
Honestly, Violet deserves better.

Chicago Fire: New Ships Set Sail Season 13 Episode 2
While 9-1-1 supporters (myself included) are losing their minds over the potential Buck/Eddie relationship, I’m bringing that energy to Chicago Fire.
Violet and Novak have great chemistry, and having more LGBTQ+ representation in the mix would do wonders for everyone at One Chicago.
Novak seems obsessed with finding Violet a date to help her break free from Carver, but if you read between the lines, she does spend a lot of time talking about how great Violet is.
I know this is hypocritical of me, as I’ve spoken out against workplace romance before, but I almost always make exceptions to get good lesbian representation.
Obviously we don’t know much about Novak yet.
But we do know Violet, and she deserves better than waiting for someone who refuses to give her the time of day.

Stella, Seyfried, and the Elephant in the Room
From the moment we find out who Damon is, it’s clear that he’s responsible for some of Stellar Ryder’s tensions.
We see this when Damon asks Kelly not to betray him because of his blatant disregard for Stella’s orders, thus pitting husband against wife.
At first, Seyfried seemed intent on keeping his brother’s secret, which was enough to make me feel disappointed in him for preemptively striking out.
Thankfully, the Kelly Seyfried we know and love comes to her senses and remembers that his devotion is (correctly) to his devoted wife and not to the half-brother he met about five minutes ago brother.
It’s also nice to see Kelly heed Cruz’s warnings about the dangers of working with Damon.
Cruz approached his friend in good faith and told his own story, which Seyfried took to heart. Maybe this means we have to say goodbye to Damon.

Unveiling the Curtain on Pascal in Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 2
I’ve said it a million times: They will never make me hate Dermot Mulroney.
But it looks like the writers of “Chicago Fire” are definitely trying their best.
In Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 1, we learn that 118’s new captain has some secrets.
It seems that at least one of these secrets has to do with uncontrollable anger issues, which Pascal puts on full display in Riding the Sword.
We still don’t know what happened in Miami, but he and his wife Monica (played by the talented Kadi Strickland) have a tense history.
Pascal lets go of the punching bag and later punches an old friend, so there must be something sinister beneath the surface of this guy.

Ritter Finally Gets More Screen Time in Season 13
Season 12 of “Chicago Fire” is short, with several episodes featuring a large number of missing cast members.
We don’t see everyone as often as we would like.
Thankfully, it looks like we’ll be seeing all of our favorite people this season!
Ritter is at the forefront in the premiere, joining Stella as Violet’s circle of trust.
In Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 2, we see him working alongside Herman to add comic relief to the episode.
Hopefully this trend continues and we’ll see more crossovers with Chicago PD as Ritter and Dwayne’s relationship progresses.

What it means to be a girl’s girl
The team received a call involving a naked woman who had accidentally been impaled on a shower pipe by her partner.
Generally speaking, this call was no different than any other.
But I appreciated the unspoken protectiveness Violet, Stella, and Lizzie showed towards their victims.
They took the lead on calls and helped the victim dress to preserve her dignity. Everyone in the room stood back, assisting only when needed.
I’m not really a fan of bathing as a group activity, but if I found myself in such a vulnerable situation, I’d expect first responders to treat me with this kind of grace and kindness.

Chicago Fire Season 13 is off to a good start
Pascal’s history still needs to be unraveled, and something must be done about Damon.
The decision on the Stellaride baby is still pending. Several relationships are developing.
There are so many issues to resolve and the season is already off to a great start with a few standout episodes.
There’s a ton of developments to look forward to, and we’ll be on the edge of our seats from now until the finale.
Now, tell us all your thoughts on the episode in the comments, and don’t forget to tune in to NBC’s Chicago Fire next Wednesday at 9/8c!
