But let’s be honest, All American Season 7 has been confirmed, and we’ve got the latest news about the cast of The CW’s beloved sports drama.
Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou and Bre-Z will all return as series regulars, Deadline reported today
Additionally, Antonio J. Bell (Khalil) and Alexis Chikadze (Amina) have been promoted to series regulars.
That’s not all! Osy Ikhile and Nathaniel McIntyre will join the cast to play newly created characters.
But the real kicker is (football pun intended): Samantha Logan (Olivia), Cody Christian (Usher), Karima Westbrook (Grace James), Monée · Mazur (Laura Baker) and Chelsea Tavares (Patience) are both leaving the series.
Needless to say, season seven of the show is going to look very different!
Still, the news of all these new and returning stars may come as a comfort to any American fans who are nervous about the show’s future following Daniel Ezra’s departure.
While there’s been an unhealthy trend in recent years of main characters being summarily written off shows, Ezra’s send-off was mostly satisfying.
We see his character Spencer James make it to the NFL, win a Super Bowl, and then get married.
There’s no happier ending than this!
Deadline reports that Ezra will return for a guest appearance and is expected to direct at least one episode, news that is sure to please any American fans.
Otherwise, the show is going back to its high school roots.
“Season seven will bring it all back to where it all began: Beverly Hills High School and South Crenshaw High School.
“The same hearts, the same NFL dreams, the same cross-town rivalries, the same chaotic hormones, brought to life by a new generation of Los Angeles teenagers, a new Beverley coach and our OG Uzumaki family who are surprised to find they are supposed to be Now it’s time to be a responsible adult.
Some fans are confused by The CW’s decision to renew “All American,” as the show has perfectly wrapped up its main characters’ storylines.
But since quality programming is in short supply these days, we’re willing to give the show’s multi-generational approach a chance.
After all, every promising newcomer needs a veteran to guide them, and newcomers to the show might benefit from joining such a talented cast.
