As an undisguised fanatic, voice actor James Arnold Taylor There was once the opportunity to play some of the most iconic characters in pop culture, including Fred Flintstone, Flash and Spider-Man. For fans, Taylor may be known for playing the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Animation projects and other media. In his latest animated project, a movie based on faith King of Kings Based on novel Our Lord’s Life Written by Charles Dickens, Taylor serves as the voice of Melchior, Matthew, Thomas, Phillip and the Young Jesus.
Before the release this weekend, we were happy to chat with Taylor not only about his involvement in the film, but about his own independent film project and more!
DAR: You are King of Kings. Have you already known what roles you will send out or change as it evolves?
James Arnold Taylor: In fact, I was brought into what we call the scratch track early in the production process. I recorded almost everyone. I’m Charles Dickens, most of the apostles, the devil, all of these characters are in the original cut of the movie so they can animate and find their own story before they perform a celebrity. For me, the more question is what they like to stand out [could] Let me stay there afterwards. Thankfully, I had to play three apostles, Matthew, Philip and Thomas. I have to play the role of King Herod’s scribe. Melchior, one of the three wise men. I play Malchus, whose ears are healed by Jesus. I will also be the voice of young Jesus in a special scene at the age of twelve.
Taimur Dar: As you mentioned, your voice is young Jesus. It’s always an interesting challenge for actors to play a younger version of the role. Obviously, you have this experience in all aspects Star Wars Media and Hellboy: Blood and Iron Animated movies, you express a young version of the character John Hurt. In both cases, you have good materials to base your performance. for King of Kingsobviously, you’ve never met Oscar Isaac, who expressed the voice of Jesus, and what guided your performance?
James Arnold Taylor: Initially, when we do the scratched sound, I expressed Jesus’ voice in a regular tone, just like the way I felt he would be portrayed. Then we went to my younger version. When Oscar went down and played the role, we did what we called ADR or looped back because I wanted to make sure I performed similarly to what the Oscar did. The truth is, it’s no different from what I did in the first place because our tone is somewhat the same. But Oscar even had keels for his keels. So I want to paint it in that young voice. so [imitates Oscar Issacs’ voice] The Oscars’ voice is right in that field. So I just want to [imitates younger voice] I would raise this sound a little bit and take it to this twelve-year-old place and his acting manner. As a voice actor, many celebrities in my career have doubled Christopher Lloyd As a young doctor Brown. So you just have to play their performance, ability and voice and make it to the standard of the story. This is very interesting. Actually, I think I even played a younger version Mark Hamill Once, Mark and I did the first thing they did together a few years ago. I played the kids version, and he did the old man version of the character. It’s fun, I’m a young version of many celebrities.
Taimur Dar: I think almost everyone is familiar with Charles Dickens’s work, whether they have read his books or not. I don’t know this movie is based on The life of our Lord. It has a very interesting publishing history.
James Arnold Taylor: He wrote in 1846. In 1934, he wrote for nearly a hundred years. He wrote very special books for the children. This is more of a way to introduce the Bible to his children. It’s more of a family story. I don’t think he will post it. I love that this is a great tool to tell this story in a very tasty way. At this point, we join Dickens and his son in their turbulent relationship. I know most parents understand [when] You just didn’t click with the kid. At the beginning, it’s very good, and you find that they have much more in common than they think.
Taimur Dar: Did you know about Dickens before this project and have a chance to read it afterwards?
James Arnold Taylor: I didn’t have a chance to read it. I’ve been asked a lot of questions now. I really need to read it because I’m very curious about it. But I knew it before that. Then, when Jamie Thomason reached out to me, I said, “I’ve heard of it.” Next time we speak, I’ll read it!
Taimur Dar: Since my socket covers the comics industry, if I don’t take the time to go discuss Comic Storean independent film project you have been developing.
James Arnold Taylor: This has been one of my passion projects for many years. I wrote several versions of scripts for different people. We have landed in one where we hope to find the investors we need to make the movie. This is a great story. Essentially, I took everything I grew up, looked at them, and put them in. You have a little Breakfast Club Because you have five kids from all walks of life come together to get together for one goal. They were trapped in a place waiting in line and met their favorite voice actor because he was a bit secluded and they had seen it before. He came to the town comic shop, so these kids were waiting for the top five. We met everyone during our time together because they were forced to be together, this is Breakfast Club. I took a little Clerk and commoditysome of them Kevin Smith thing. But this is a cleaner version! Some things I like cheers and Seinfeld and bring it into it. It’s an adult family-friendly comedy, which I think is very lacking in the movie world. I really hope to have the opportunity to make this movie next year.
What we are also going to do is get fans involved because I meet fans, artists and creators on comics most weekends. The comic shop set we are going to build will be filled with Fanart and fragments. This is my respect, thanks for all of this. But we also don’t use DC and Marvel’s IP. We will use our own stuff. The characters in the comic book are based on characters called “Sound” I created as a kid. He uses sound waves to save a day. This is based on what I did on my single-player show, called speaking to myself. I think it will be an interesting movie. I can’t wait for people to see it. I can’t wait to shoot. I made another movie called “Hidden Blessings.” This is a more faith-based film that I wrote, filmed, produced and edited. Now available for free. We use it as a proof of concept Comic Store Show what we can do. I hope people [reading] This will be to spread the word in time!
Taimur Dar: As long as we’re talking about comics, my introduction to Guy Gardner’s version of Green Lantern can be done through Batman: Brave and Bold Animated series, you express your character. He is about to debut in the upcoming Superman movie played by Nathan Fillion. I wonder if you have grown up with Guy Gardner fans and what you think about the actors?
James Arnold Taylor: I haven’t heard of Nathan doing this. marvelous. This is the first time you told me! I know they are doing real people, but I don’t know it’s him. I’ve been busy doing other things and I haven’t gotten this news. I’m a huge green arrow and green lantern [fan]. I have comics from both of them. Then I am a huge green light fan myself. From Hal Jordan to Guy Gardner. I am here Emerald Knight years ago. Green Lanterns are great superheroes. My version of Guy Gardner is Dennis Leary. He is Hal Jordan or any other Green Lantern’s total opposite. Nathan is perfect. I’m very excited.
King of Kings Starting April 11, 2025, it will be distributed worldwide by Angel Studios.
