The experience of finding, updating, launching and playing Call of Duty is about to change again. Developer Activision is preparing a massive overhaul of the Call of Duty HQ launcher on PC, along with some other changes to how profiles are obtained on PC and consoles.
The biggest change brought about by this is the separation of Warzone and the annual paid Call of Duty game. In other words, players who are only interested in playing the game they purchased can download the files, while free players will only be able to download Warzone.

This change will be rolled out in phases as part of an effort to reduce the game’s installation size. This will be accomplished in part by expanding the game’s streaming technology, which means adding more content to the streaming pool.
Activision will recycle less frequently used content from the streaming cache and expand the content that is generally available for streaming. The On-Demand Texture Streaming option will change to On-Demand High Quality Streaming and provide two options, one that prioritizes higher fidelity but requires more bandwidth usage, and one that reduces graphics quality. But it takes up less network bandwidth.
Another goal of improving the interface is to provide easier access to different games, which also means letting players download only the games they want to play. Unfortunately, this means players will have to download large archives to pave the way for smaller installation sizes. For example, on PS5, the next update – Season 5 Reloaded – will need to be downloaded as four separate chunks: the initial system-level update, and additional ones triggered by launching Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. Three updates.
However, this only applies to those who are already playing and keeping up with the current game. Newcomers in the future won’t have to go through this again.
This reorganization of game content begins with the release of Reloaded Season 5 on August 21 and will continue in the coming weeks until the release of Black Ops 6. , a new Call of Duty landing area has been created, showing the different supported games as well as some recently played content.
When that shift happens, Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone will be the main games, but that will change when Black Ops 6 launches. Speaking of which, starting with Black Ops 6, every future game will have its own UI linked to its various modes/content.
The following is the timetable for this major renovation:
-
Reorganizing game content as part of the Season 5 Reloaded update (August 21)
-
“Black Ops 6” open beta (August 30)
-
New user interface (mid-October)
-
“Black Ops 6” released (October 25)
Finally, anyone who logs in after next week’s Season 5 Reloaded update will receive a Battle Pass jump pack and double XP tokens. This pack will be available before the end of Season 5, so as long as you update and log in (during the season) you’ll get it.
