Build-A-Bear has fast-tracked production of its Halloween products due to unauthorized leaks of licensed products on social media platforms.
Users on platforms like TikTok have revealed a Build-a-Bear collaboration that includes Sanrio characters designed in a fall Halloween theme; the collection, available now, includes Hello Kitty and Friends characters Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and Band Pompompurin with zombies, candy corn and witchcraft details.
Other products have picked up speed due to strong consumer demand, including Pumpkin Cat, an orange and green plush toy from Build-A-Bear Vault last year that quickly sold out. According to Build-A-Bear, the waiting list for Pumpkin Kitty this year has reached 25,000 people.
“Build-A-Bear is proud to be a place for kids and kids at heart to celebrate holidays and special events in a truly memorable way,” said President and CEO of Build-A-Bear Workshop Sharon Price John said. “Halloween has traditionally been a highlight for our studio, where families can create magical moments together and collectors can enjoy exclusive seasonal products. We believe the brand’s continued and growing popularity during this holiday season reflects We are committed to providing joyful experiences and treasured moments for all ages.
Consumer interest and spending on Halloween is overall on the rise. Statista reports that Halloween 2023 participation is even higher than pre-pandemic levels.
