While it sounds like the return of Bo and Hope from Days of Our Lives is great news, I’m still afraid to get excited.
We’ve been down this road with the iconic couple too many times in recent years, from Bo’s return after years of being thought dead to Fancy Face just in time to rescue him from the suddenly evil Aiden…only to Died less than a month later from a brain tumor.
Bo’s recent return hasn’t been much better, so how can I believe that the latest news about Bo and Hope is an actual reunion?
The last few days of our lives Beau and Hope Returns were a huge disappointment
Beau falls into a coma before regaining hope
It’s been a few years since Bo and Hope last returned, and I wish I could put this behind me.
It starts with a lot of commitment. Beau is miraculously resurrected, and his subsequent story is the kind of thing that only happens in Salem: He was brainwashed into believing he was evil because he was the illegitimate son of Victor Kiriakis, and that Bray The Dee family hated him.
The settings here should be obvious. Hope needs to be the only one who can reach him, and then, once he remembers, they can ride off into the sunset until the next cameo shows up.
Instead, they ended the return of Beau and Hope in The Last Days in the most brutal way possible.
After weeks of agony in which Beau doesn’t remember who he is at his core and does terrible things, his breakout with Hope turns into a drama when Sean Douglas believes he’s protecting his mother. Heartbreaking tragedy.
Bo Xilai quickly fell into a coma, and doctors were not sure when he would wake up, which made fans furious.
Latest return could redeem writers…or be worse
There’s no telling what Bo and Hope’s new story will be.
The coma story would have been fine if Bo and Hope had been around, Hope being devastated about losing the man she loved again, like her son wanting to shoot him, until Bo miraculously woke up .
This might be a bit of a boring TV trope, but who cares? Beau and Hope will have a happy ending.
Instead, the writers did a bait-and-switch, promising us we’d get the real Days of Our Lives Bo and Hope returning, but offering a silly story that had them in the same place as usual, with Bo in Life wanders between death and hope is destroyed.
That’s why I can’t believe this latest news. I want to be excited, but every time these two come back, it’s the same thing.
Hope is always heartbroken because Bo is missing, dead, or in a coma, and I have to wonder what new torments the writers will give us when she and Bo return in May.
Meanwhile, Beau misses Victor and Doug’s funerals, and viewers are deceived from seeing anything meaningful during a time when the two men are rarely on screen.
