During the Japan Expo in Paris, we presented to you the first collector’s edition of the original “classic”. bleach series, we’re feeling a rush of excitement but also a lot of very easy-to-understand questions, so let’s delve into the launch strategy for the entire 366-episode series and how you’ll own and collect it!
We spent considerable time trying to figure out the best way to present the series on Blu-ray, and given the length and configuration of the series, we finally came up with a strategy that we believe will surprise fans of the series . bleach Collector’s Edition experience, but with a low total cost of ownership. So, this is our plan:
- there will be three Collector’s Edition sets of BLEACH are launching alongside our Blu-ray releases – these will contain volumes 1, 6 and 10 of the series.
- These collector’s editions will contain only one volume from the series, but will also serve as storage cases for other standard edition volumes. For example, as we’ll see later, our first BLEACH Collector’s Edition will contain Part 1 of the series, but with room for Parts 2, 3, 4, and 5.
- Each Collector’s Edition set is planned to contain a large, comprehensive art book, using all the resources at our disposal, with artwork for each book spanning each volume of the series that can be housed in each storage box. Taking our first collector’s edition as an example again, the included art book will cover parts 1-5 of the series.
In short, to own the entire series, you’d buy three Collector’s Edition sets, and then buy ten Standard Edition Blu-rays to fill the Collector’s Edition storage box. So you’ll end up with a beautiful and rich addition to your anime collection that can sit comfortably and attractively on your bookshelf.
Of course, if you just want to own the standard edition Blu-ray series, all Thirteen volumes will be released in this format (including part of a Collector’s Edition set), so if you want the full BLEACH Blu-ray experience in this format, we’ve got you covered.
Each volume of the series will contain approximately 27 episodes (with some variation based on storyline length), with discs matching the US releases as a point of comparison.
Now that we’ve laid the foundation for our release plan, let’s get into the specifics of our Part 1 release!
Bleach Collector’s Edition Part 1
Let’s start by taking a look at our first Collector’s Edition storage box – as mentioned above, this initial Collector’s Edition will contain the first part of the series on Blu-ray (containing episodes 1-27), with additional space for Parts 2, 3, and 4 Make room for standard Blu-ray discs, which hold five discs and fit snugly inside.
Our goal with these Collector’s Edition sets was to be sleek, stylish, and eye-catching, allowing us to focus on some of the most amazing artwork the series has to offer our cover stars—the first set, of course, featuring Ichigo and Lu Kia.
Moving on to the content, you’ll find the Part 1 Blu-ray of the series in a standard Amaray box with O-cards, which contains four discs containing the first 27 episodes of the series, as well as a set of three character art cards.
The storage box also includes one of our creations – a 220 page art book. This book collects character design art from the first half of the series, including an impressive roster of characters, as well as a collection of cover art from the show.
Whether you choose the Collector’s or Standard Edition of Part 1, and regardless of the retailer, you’ll find the same core configuration, including the Amaray box, O-cards, four discs, and three character art cards.
