According to reports, one of the most popular games currently, Black Myth: Wukong, is not coming to Xbox Series X|S due to undisclosed exclusivity terms between Sony and developer GameScience.
According to IGN and Forbes , previous claims that the Xbox version was delayed due to technical memory issues were not accurate. Instead, the game is reportedly a console exclusive on the PlayStation 5 (at least for now).
Neither Sony nor GameScience revealed any possible exclusivity deals, but GameScience said the game is currently being optimized for Xbox. Microsoft also issued its own statement regarding “Black Myth: Wukong”.
“We’re excited to launch Black Myth Wukong on Xbox Series X|S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platform,” Microsoft explained. “We can’t comment on our partnerships with other platforms. holders, but we remain committed to making Xbox the best platform for gamers, and great games are at the core of that.”
In the past, issues with the Series S have caused delays in other games, such as Baldur’s Gate 3, due to the need to release both Series X and Series S versions with equivalent features. However, this is clearly not what happens in Black Myth: Wukong.
Black Myth: Wukong has become one of the fastest-selling games of all time, selling 10 million copies between August 20 and August 23. It surpassed Elden Ring and Hogwarts Legacy, and matched the three-day sales record of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which also sold 10 million copies.
In GameSpot’s review of Black Myth: Wukong, we said: “Black Myth: Wukong loves its thrilling boss battles with the greatest creatures in Chinese mythology, but the moments in between are disappointing.”
