In today’s ever-changing comics industry, there are two universal truths. The first one is dog man is an iconic comic of our time. The second is that more people are reading comics and online comics (also known as vertical comics) than ever before. Therefore, we at Comics Beat chose to embark on a new adventure: Bit’s Bizarre Adventure. Every other week, three authors recommend some of their favorite books and series from Japan, Korea, and elsewhere. This week, we have a vertical scrolling re-edit of a classic action series, a manga adaptation of the excellent Shounen Love web novel, and featuring (again) Osamu Tezuka.
Kill City: T
Writer/Artist: Okuhiroya
platform: jumping cartoon
I just know about Ganz When my ex introduced me Gonzo Studio Anime adaptation of Our Date Night. We watched the entire series that day and felt so excited by the end. So I went straight to the manga…and read them all! It’s a frantic action-packed ride with stunning creature designs, detailed line art with stunning value use, and a unique art style Okuhiroya.
Cut to 2024, and to my surprise, Ganz was reformatted as jumping cartoon as Ganz: T. After watching the original anime and reading the manga, I had to read a story like this Ganz Can be adapted to scrolling formats. The first thought that came to my mind was: How are they going to handle the blood, gore, and uncensored full-body nudity?
It is clear from the first few panels that Ganz: T Repurposed original comic panels, just restructured and reorganized for vertical scrolling/webcomic format. Each panel is digitally shaded using simple cell shading; some negative space within the panel is assigned color or pattern to add visual variety, or enhance the mood of the scene. Gutters also feature patterns and effects to redirect the reader’s eye. Visual effects have also been used in art, such as depth of field and motion blur. The visuals also subtly censor the comic’s gore.
The team at JumpToon found creative ways to review artwork without making significant changes to it. Blood and blood splatter are darkened and blurred through motion blur. Exposed content can be subtly cropped out by resizing the panel or omitting it entirely. Gore can be concealed through motion blur, the use of gradients, coloring as outlines, or simply cropping away when possible. Double page spreads are split into two separate panels for easy adjustment. This often feels out of place as the art is actually split in half instead of being given a single panel.
Other than that, it doesn’t really affect the flow and the story itself. My experience reading the JumpToon adaptation was almost the same as when I originally read it Ganz. I didn’t think it was a webcomic until the altered panels reminded me that it was an adaptation of the comic. Ganz: T Mobile, secure work version Ganz You can read it in full color on the go or on your computer. But if you want to experience the series in its intended form, I still recommend reading the manga.
As of this writing, Ganz: T It’s available on JumpToon, but only in Japanese, as the app doesn’t currently have an English translation. Due to the content of the webcomic, you will need to have an account on JumpToon to access the webcomic, even if the content is toned down. But it’s interesting to read and understand how and why changes were made. — Justin Guerrero
run wildly

platform: lethal
Danmei, translated as “addicted to beauty” in Chinese, is a genre in Chinese literature that focuses on male lovers. It’s been growing in popularity lately – and for good reason! The story was well written and the couple was worth it. Sayeor run wildlyone of my favorite Danmei series; when I saw it was going to be officially translated into English and released in lethalI was ecstatic.
The story begins when the protagonist Jiang Cheng is kicked out of his home by his adoptive parents and sent to a cold and desolate city to live with his idle father who is addicted to gambling. His first day was eventful, to say the least. He rescued Gu Miao, a mute girl with disheveled hair and a skateboard, from bullies and had to call her brother to pick her up. Who knew who Gu Miao’s brother was, he immediately refused to answer his call and told Jiang Cheng to “kill the hostage”.
After arriving, Jiang Cheng didn’t have much fondness for the young man with buzzed hair, he just admired his long legs. When Jiang Cheng learned that they were classmates at school, the situation did not get much better. Although the two were initially at odds with each other, Jiang Cheng and Gu Fei became each other’s light in this cold and dreary city.
run wildly It is a modern American drama that tells the story of two young people struggling to survive in a world that does not belong to them. Jiang Cheng is unloved and alone. Gu Fei became a father and brother to his disabled sister, and he felt like he could never escape.
While you may not agree with every decision they make, you understand their reasoning because the complexity of Jiang Cheng and Gu Fei is well written. The two found each other’s home and family. When they fall in love, you can’t help but become immersed in their relationship.
run wildlyCompared to other popular danmei, its pace is slower. But fans of family stories and coming-of-age journeys definitely need to read this series. — Liang Haoying

I stumbled upon it for the first time Osamu Tezukaseries Phoenix As a high school student. Its second story line, futurerewiring my brain. I can’t believe comics can tell a story on this scale! Not to mention the drawings by Tezuka future The late 1960s, nearly thirty years after I was born.
The fifth story line, karmaThe drama, which aired from 1969 to 1970, tells the story of two men: the one-eyed, one-armed homeless man Gao and the talented sculptor Akamaru Maru. Gao was mistreated by his peers, and eventually he got angry and murdered his village. During the flight, he greets Akamaru and chops off his dominant arm. Now Akamaru must learn sculpture all over again. At the same time, Gao’s unfortunate experience allowed him to see the nature of the world clearly and allowed him to embark on his own path as an artist.
karma It’s a story about art. How it’s made, why it’s made, and how long it lasts. Akamaru’s injury allowed him to become a sculptor, but his success diminished his abilities. Gao, on the other hand, discovered his passion for sculpture in his old age. At first he thought it was a waste of time, but sooner or later he couldn’t stop. Sooner or later the two of them would be pitted against each other over religious politics. The outcome of that duel sealed their fate – though if Phoenix is to be believed, the future was already doomed from the start.
karma It’s also a masterpiece of formalism, where every panel and page layout has been carefully chosen. Tezuka is not a pure film “story manga” but rather repurposes film techniques in ways that can only be used in comics. The illogical jokes common in his work are kept to a minimum here. therefore, karma achieve a kind of solemnity. It’s still larger than life, but in a religious allegory rather than a cartoon way.
This is the perfect introduction to Osamu Tezuka. Of course, some might argue blackjack, Buddha or A message to Adolf As Tezuka’s best. His 1947 cartoon New Treasure Island Probably forever his most influential. But for the greatness of Osamu Tezuka, you can’t beat Phoenix: Karma. My only gripe is that this book handles women very poorly, even compared to other books. Phoenix storyline.
But it makes me wonder why Phoenix Not easy to find these days. While the story is available in e-book form, the physical version sells for hundreds of dollars. Viz should reprint this article so the next generation of readers knows what they missed. — Adam Westcott
