Big news from the world of The Big Bang Theory!
According to a new report from Deadline , the upcoming untitled TBBT spinoff has added three beloved cast members from the original series.
Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, and Brian Poseid are all set to return to the Big Bang Theory universe in a sequel series that would otherwise be shrouded in mystery.
In the original series, Sussman played comic book store owner Stewart Bloom, who quickly became a fan favorite.
Lapkus and Poseid play Dennis and Burt Kibler respectively, so it’s safe to assume that the spinoff will center on these three characters.
More casting announcements are sure to follow, but it seems like locking in the key three actors is the producers’ top priority.
This is the first indication of the show’s focus since it was first announced in April 2023.
Insiders say the script has not yet been written and the project has not been greenlit by CBS.
But since this is Chuck Lorre’s creation, from one of the most successful franchises in network history, it’s safe to assume that this thing will eventually see the light of day.
If you were a fan of the original TBBT, then you know that it provided fertile ground for spin-offs.
“Young Sheldon” successfully concluded its seven-season run in May.
(The show likely would have continued for a few more years if not for the fact that the eponymous actor, Ian Armitage, began to age out of the role.)
The show spawned “George and Mandy’s First Marriage,” which premieres October 17 on CBS.
So, yes, barring a total disaster, the mysterious third spin-off will be hitting your screens soon – possibly as early as fall 2025.
There are also discussions about other spin-offs of TBBT, including one centered on the character of Raj played by Kunal Nayyar.
Therefore, it seems likely that the TBBT universe will continue to expand for the foreseeable future.
