this natland region is the latest addition Genshin Impact. While the 5.0 update and concurrent four-year anniversary event bring plenty to do for first-time and returning players, it’s the new characters that have many excited. Kachina, a break dance that everyone will be familiar with, is available for free with four stars.

Kachina is a Geo Polearm character from Natland. Like others in the area, enhanced traversal capabilities are baked into her toolkit. Her ability summons a drill that she can use to quickly travel to cliffs or bounce to the ground for area-of-effect damage. Everything besides her normal attacks affects her defense, so you’ll want to make her a tank. From unlocking methods to ideal artifacts, here’s everything you need to know about this adorable breakdancer.
How to Unlock Kachina for Free
Just like every character in the play Genshin Impactin addition to Travelers, you will be able to unlock Katsina through the banner. She is currently being promoted in the limited-time event banner and should be added to the standard roaming summons banner in the future. Thankfully, you don’t have to rely solely on luck to unlock her.
You can unlock her for free by completing the recently added 5.0 Archon quest line. If you are a new player or slightly behind the storyline, you can also skip these events and play. The only requirement is to first complete the Chapter 1, Act 3 Archon quest. Then you just open the “Activity Overview” menu and scroll down to the “Turbo Twirly!” tab. Confirm that you need a quick start and then you can start your mission.
Best Kachina Team Composition
Kachina’s primary role is as a secondary DPS, but she can also be built as a support. I’m going to list the best options for each aspect of her build. The first is choosing the right team.
Noelle and Ito are great characters to fill the main DPS roleusing georesonance to deflect Katsina’s attack. Geography can sometimes be finicky elements, which is why it helps to pair them with each other.
Navia is another great DPS-focused choice. Keep in mind that her equipment benefits from Crystal Reaction, so she should not be included in a single geo team. One of the artifact sets I’ll mention later is best suited for rainbow teams (with multiple elemental types), so consider diversifying your team.
You can also place Kachina with support and DPS pairs that share the same element. This provides a consistent crystal shield, which can be useful against certain enemies or bosses. Typical pairings include Fulina and Novilet, Shenhe and Ayaka, and Bennett and Winx.
The Natlan characters revealed so far do have unique zone mechanics, and the ability to shorten their Night Soul Burst cooldowns when multiple characters are paired up in a team. Mualani is a solid choice for primary DPS, but Kinich and other Natlan characters coming out in the future should be fine as well.
Since her defense is crucial to her gameplay, you’ll want to equip her with items that increase that stat. Unfortunately, there aren’t many weapons that can enhance DEF, so I recommend focusing on energy regeneration from the DMG or alternatives.
Katsina’s best weapons were introduced with its region. Rainbow Trail increases base attack and defense, which is exactly what we want. In addition, it has an ability that is triggered when using elemental skills, further increasing defense for 15 seconds. It almost feels like it was custom-made for her, and after some sanding of the material you can make it easily.
Another solid option is deathmatch. Its main effect is to increase critical hit chance, but it will also increase attack power and defense when there are more than 2 enemies nearby, or it will only increase attack power when there are fewer enemies nearby. The only problem here is that this weapon can only be obtained from the battle pass.
Although a bit different, Favonius Lance is also a good alternative. It increases the user’s energy recharge rate, and also increases the considerable chance of a critical hit generating extra energy. This weapon is a preset item included on every main banner. This means that, technically, it’s free if you’re lucky enough.
Best upgrade talent
Both Mullaney and Kachina have transformative skills that enhance their combat capabilities and make exploration easier. As with any skill, you’ll want them to be active more often. Among talents, the order of focus is as follows:
- Elemental Skills – Let’s go, Turbo Spin!
- Elemental Burst – It’s time to get serious!
- Normal Attack – Rockbiter
Best Heritage in Katsina
Your choice of artifacts will depend on the role you want Katchina to play, and who is on her team. Those options that enhance DEF are perfect, but there are a few other options you can plug in.
My top artifact suggestion for Kachina is the Scroll of Heroes of the City of Ashes. The two-piece effect regenerates elemental energy whenever a nearby party member triggers Night Soul Burst. Once the user triggers an Elemental Reaction, its four-piece set of effects is activated and can provide one or two buffs. The base buff is a 12% increase in the elemental DMG received by nearby party members from the element participating in the reaction. If the user is in the Night Soul Blessing state, an additional 28% will be added.
Similar to the Mullani and Obsidian Codex, this set of artifacts was introduced with the Natlan region. It can be obtained by completing the Blessed Realm of the Rainbow Elf Temple.
Next up, and paired really well, is the shell of a gorgeous dream. The two-piece effect of this artifact increases DEF stats by an impressive 30%. The four-piece set of effects brings the unique Curiosity stacking mechanic, adding a layer every 0.3 layers with each Geo attack. When the user is not present, the stack will also increase by one every three seconds. Each stack increases DEF and Geo DMG by 6%.
Finally, there’s the sometimes-overlooked Defender’s Will artifact set. Like above, the two-piece increases DEF by 30%. At the same time, the elemental RES of each element appearing in the quartet is increased by 30%. Pair Kachina with Rainbow Squad and you’ll have a team with multiple resistances and powerful tanks.

I wouldn’t say that Katchina is the best at what she does, regardless of the choices made in building her. That doesn’t change the fact that she’s a solid character and worth working with, especially since she’s free for every player. I certainly love her faster time travel and geography play style Genshin ImpactXbox version November.
